Stunning actress Elizabeth Olsen, won her third MTV Movie & TV award this year. She had previously won in 2021 for her role as Wanda Maximoff in the successful Disney+ series WandaVision. She was awarded Best Performance in a Show and Best Fight award, which she shared with Kathryn Hahn. For the 2023 awards, she was nominated for the same role, but this time for Best Villain as she was seen transforming into a powerful villain in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, released in 2022. The movie smashed the box office with a gross of $909.4 million.
Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness also starred Benedict Cumberbatch as he made a comeback as the Marvel hero. As per the plot, he teams up with a mysterious teen girl, America Chavez to travel through the multiverse and face alternate versions of himself, as he tries to protect her. In the film, Wanda becomes the Scarlet Witch with the powers of Darkhold. She is the antagonist and the biggest enemy of Doctor Strange. The film has been directed by Sam Raimi and written by Michael Waldron.

Since the news broke about Elizabeth Olsen winning MTV Best Villain Award for 2023, the internet is swarmed with the fans of MCU. A majority of Dr. Strange and Marvel fans are disappointed with the win Olsen. Some said she won because of white privilege, while others said that she did not deserve the award. The other nominations for the Best Villain category included Harry Styles for Don’t Worry Darling, Jamie Campbell Bower for Stranger Things, Jenna Davis and Amie Donald for M3GAN, and the CGI bear in Cocaine Bear. Elizabeth Olsen defeated them to win the title for the year.
