Growing up on the sets of Harry Potter and spending a significant amount of their lives dedicated to the franchise, Daniel Radcliffe, Emma Watson, and Rupert Grint, thus appeared for a reunion in 2022. Therein, the stars recalled countless behind-the-scenes stories from the set. However, the most endearing tale stood out as Radcliffe and Watson’s support for each other through their turbulent teenage years.

Daniel Radcliffe and Emma Watson Supported Each Other During Awkward Teenage Years

Growing up on the set of Harry Potter, and spending most of their time together, the young actors had formed a deeper bond with their co-stars. However, none of them had the mutual understanding and support that Daniel Radcliffe and Emma Watson had for each other. Years after the conclusion of the Harry Potter films, as the stars appeared for the Harry Potter 20th Anniversary: Return to Hogwarts reunion, Radcliffe and Watson recalled their teenage years.

Reminiscing about the times when they went through those awkward adolescent times, Daniel Radcliffe revealed that he and Emma Watson gave each other dating tips. Sharing a unique bond, much like siblings, the duo mentioned how they had been each other’s source of strength and comfort during their awkward years. According to snippets of the discussion shared by Digital Spy, Radcliffe, and Watson admitted prepping and coaching each other on how to deal with the opposite gender.

The amount of prep and coaching Emma and I would give each other on texting to the opposite sex. Like if she was texting a boy or I was texting a girl, I’d be like, ‘She sent me this many kisses back, what do I do? This is a nightmare’. Radcliffe said.

Following Daniel Radcliffe and Emma Watson’s confessions, Rupert Grint recalled the 2005 movie Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire when the young stars were going through puberty. Joking about how there were “a lot of hormones flying around [on set]” during that movie, Grint was corroborated by Matthew Lewis, who played Neville Longbottom in the films.

The Harry Potter Stars Recalled their Peak Hormone Phase During 2005’s Goblet of Fire

Throughout the reunion, the Harry Potter stars addressed several behind-the-scenes stories, however, the awkward tales about their teenage years remained the most entertaining ones. Matthew Lewis thus compared their time in Hogwarts to a real-life school situation where people confessed their crush, proposed to each other, and even broke up. Explaining how it was exactly the same environment, Lewis joked that only the location differed.

[There] were crushes and people went out with each other and broke up, just like we used to do in school. It was exactly the same environment, but it was just in a Defence of the Dark Arts class. Lewis shared.

That film [Goblet of Fire] is probably peak hormone, at least for me. It was exactly like you’d expect, especially since the fourth film had a bunch of hormonal teenagers anyway and bringing two massive groups of new people, all of them purposefully hot for the film. Radcliffe added.

While we’re on the topic of crushes and teenage confessions, who can forget about the time when Emma Watson admitted harboring a crush on her co-star Tom Felton? Even during the reunion, the actress admitted that she “fell in love” with Felton immediately after meeting him in the first film, The Philosopher’s Stone. Well, harboring a crush on Tom Felton is certainly one thing that Potterheads can relate to.
