House of the Dragon ended with a successful run in its first season. The widely known Game of Thrones prequel didn’t disappoint the fans and looks promising. But it seems that some aspects of the series promotion are not quite appealing to the fans. The fans are not happy as the Rhaenyra Targaryen actress Emma D’Arcy wasn’t involved so much in the interviews, talk shows, and magazine covers so much like their other co-stars.

Emma D’Arcy identifies themself as a non-binary. The fans who take over the internet to defend the actress claim that this treatment is received by them because they are non-binary. According to the fans, all their other co-stars belonging to the non-trans community didn’t have the same fate.

Why is Emma D’Arcy not called to the publicity campaigns?

Although it can’t be denied that the older Rhaenyra Targaryen hasn’t been part of any promotional campaign but their appearances have been a lot less compared to the others. It is also to be noted that they are one of the pivotal characters of the series. As a result of which the fans are convinced that this mistreatment received by Emma D’Arcy is an anti-trans behavior.

Although we don’t know any certain reason for this, some fans think that the actress might be secretive in nature whereas most fans are convinced that this is an anti-trans attitude. They also pointed out that even D’Arcy doesn’t have a Funko pop toy of their own whereas the younger Rhaenyra played by Milly Alcock has her.

The quest for the reason for their absence from the talk shows also led to quite a discussion among the fans. As some fans have tried to hold the situation by claiming that Emma D’Arcy might be a shy and secretive person, others were quick to point out that by far they had been good in the campaigns they were in so that can’t be a possible reason.

At this point, the reason can be anything but it would be really unfortunate if the assumptions of the fans are right and this anti-trans conduct of the talk shows turns out to be the real issue.

The older Rhaenyra Targaryen gained a massive fan following in no time. They have not failed to surprise the audience with an electrifying performance which was even compared with the iconic Daenerys Targaryen played by Emilia Clarke from GoT. Now despite the first season being ended with a very positive attitude from the audience, this is a very unfair treatment received by D’Arcy.

What is the future of House of the Dragon?

To the relief of the entire fandom, House of the Dragon didn’t disappoint like the final seasons of its parent series. Rather the show undone most of the damage as well as presented us with a very different narrative and there is a wide tonal difference between this series and Game of Thrones.

The showrunners Ryan Condal and Miguel Sapochnik intelligently handled the prequel and the fans are eagerly looking forward to the upcoming seasons. It is already reported by various sources that the fans shouldn’t expect the show to be as colossally staged as the former fantasy series. While Game of Thrones followed a continent-spread approach with a wide array of characters, this show is mainly focused on the Targaryen bloodline and is very unlikely to last more than four seasons.

The makers are also planning for a quasi anthology-Esque approach where they would explore more history of Westeros after the end of the House of the Dragon saga. Now it would be exciting to watch if this series can withhold its magic till the end or not.
