While Johnson revealed that she was not surprised by Madame Web‘s failure, Sweeney tried to dissociate herself from the film. In her recent monologue on Saturday Night Live, the Euphoria actress took a dig at her film, sharing, “You definitely didn’t see me in Madame Web.”
Following its release, Madame Web quickly got into the list of some of the worst comic book movies ever made. According to Box Office Mojo, the film has only managed to gross $97.4 million against a budget of $80 million, making it a commercial failure. Sweeney had limited time to shine in her superhero costume in the film. However, it appears that The Voyeurs actress can still explore the superhero world, probably through a Spider-Man film.
According to Marvel scooper @MyTimeToShineH, Sweeney can still return to her role as Julia Cornwall / Spider-Woman in an MCU movie. The tweet was a reply to the news that Sweeney expressed her interest in returning to the role. The scooper reported that the Everything Sucks actress was on Marvel President Kevin Feige‘s radar for a long time now.

While it remains unclear whether Feige actually considered her for any of the MCU roles, he would be more than happy to welcome her back as Spider-Woman in a collaboration project with SSU. All things point to a potential appearance from the actress in the upcoming Spider-Man 4 starring Tom Holland.
Sydney Sweeney Says She Would Return To Spider-Man Universe Under One Condition
Sydney Sweeney’s recent interview with ComicBook.com gave hope for her fans to see more of her superhero role. She was asked whether she was interested in returning to the role of Julia Cornwall for future films like Spider-Man where she could share the screen with Euphoria co-star Zendaya. Sweeney was excited about the prospect and revealed that she would be totally up for it if Zendaya was in the movie.
Earlier during a promotional interview for Madame Web with Entertainment Tonight (via Cosmic Marvel), Sweeney was asked whether she was excited to join the MCU with her new film. Sweeney revealed that it was an honor for her to join the $30 billion franchise. However, this revelation did not sit well with fans who bashed Sony on social media for misleading the actors into believing that they were signing up for the MCU.
Spider-Man 4 already has a ton of BTS drama going on between the production houses. Several characters are rumored to appear in the film, however, there has been no official confirmation on any cast members except Tom Holland.
