Anthony Mackie is a prominent actor who is well-known for portraying the character of Falcon in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Mackie has portrayed a wide range of characters on-screen over the years which has demonstrated his true talent as an actor. The on-screen superhero however shocked everyone when he revealed that he used to be beaten up by his former wife at the age of 7 when they were in the same school.
Anthony Mackie Believes That His Former Wife Is The Meanest Person In The World
The Brother to Brother star married Sheletta Chapital in 2014 but their real relationship began years before, when the duo attended the same school as kids. But the duo didn’t immediately start as lovers. Talking about his decades-long relationship, Anthony Mackie had quite a bit to share about his former wife’s behavior as a kid. The Hurt Locker star shared that his wife was the meanest person in the world as she used to punch and take his lunch money from him.
“7 and she was the meanest person in the world. She was awful. She used to beat me up for my lunch money. When you’re a kid your mom gives you a quarter every day and she’ll be like, ‘Buy you lunch.” So, I would go to school and I would give it to my girlfriend, but she would punch me and take it.”
Anthony Mackie On Making His Former Wife Pay For Their First Dinner
The Falcon and the Winter Soldier star added that his proper relationship with Sheletta Chapital began when he was 28. He shared that he met her at a concert, where the duo exchanged their numbers and their relationship progressed smoothly ever since. Mackie, however, emphasized that he made Chapital pay for their first dinner, compensating all his lost lunch money in a way.
“I was 28. So it was 2008 something 2008-7,8,8, let’s say it was 9, 2009 and I was at a concert and somebody said my name and I turned around. And I was like, ‘I haven’t seen you in 20 years.’ I was like, ‘Put your number in my phone.’ And then we talked cause this was like cell phones were new for me cause I couldn’t afford him before then. And she put her number in my phone and it has been dope ever since. But I made her pay for the first dinner.”
The relationship between Anthony Mackie and Sheletta Chapital sadly ended when the couple filed for their divorce after having 4 kids together. Mackie and Chapital’s divorce happened in the year 2018 and the duo took joint custody of their four children.
