Being a Hollywood heartthrob, Johnny Depp has been the celebrity crush of his fans for years. But surprisingly, not just fans, even a few of his colleagues developed a crush on him. Nonetheless, only a few of them had the luck to share the screen with him.
Well, it’s none other than Angelina Jolie who admitted having a crush on Johnny Depp for years and craved an opportunity to work with him. But unfortunately, when the stars aligned, Jolie had a different experience and not a good one. However, Depp remained positive about his experience and even called Jolie a “walking poem”.
Angelina Jolie And Johnny Depp Didn’t Get Along During The Tourist
Angelina Jolie and Johnny Depp have the kind of Hollywood fame, that most celebrities crave to achieve. But surprisingly, despite their grandeur and a similar level of fame, the duo never met before working together in their 2010 drama The Tourist. Apparently, Jolie had a serious crush on Depp and had been looking for the opportunity to share the screen with the actor.
Thus, eventually, Angelina Jolie’s dream came true, and she got to play the role of an elegant woman named Elsie Clinton-Ford, while Depp played an American named Frank, who met on vacation in Italy. However, to Jolie’s surprise, her work experience didn’t end up the way she expected it to be. In fact, the duo faced difficulty getting along.
Excited to work together on the film and go head-to-head, Angelina Jolie soon realized Johnny Depp wasn’t the easiest actor to work with. Especially during their kissing scene Jolie apparently had trouble shooting due to Depp’s foul breath. And thus, when the bubble of her expectations popped, her experience was completely ruined.
Johnny Depp Showered Angelina Jolie With Compliments
Despite having difficulty filming The Tourist, Angelina Jolie and Johnny Depp handled the situation like professionals and didn’t let the troubles show in their performance. Watching their movie, audiences will easily buy their chemistry and will find it difficult to believe that the duo ever had trouble filming.
Further, in an attempt to maintain their positivity, Johnny Depp and Angelina Jolie avoided addressing the messy details regarding their time on set. Focusing on the good things, even during the film’s press runs, Depp and Jolie complimented each other during an interview via Vanity Fair.
“She’s everything. She’s kind of a walking poem, Angelina is. She’s this perfect beauty but at the same time very deep, very smart, very quick, very clever, very funny, and also has a very perverse sense of humor.” Depp shared.
Eventually, the movie turned into an international hit. Made with a $100M budget The Tourist went on to gross $278.3M at the global box office. And for the actors, who had a difficult time on set, Johnny Depp and Angelina Jolie didn’t let that show, during their interviews and promotions. Instead, the duo chose to remain respectful towards each other.
