Tom Brady is not the GOAT for nothing. Grown men crumble in his presence because of the sheer power that he wields over the entire population of America. Be it actors, musicians, statesmen, the media, or the general public, TB12 has put everyone under his spell, and Ben Affleck just so happens to be one of his happy victims. Affleck’s long-standing devotion to the Patriots is well known by now but the love story of the pair had to start somewhere.

Tom Brady Lights Up the Bat Signal For Catch Practice

The long-time New England Patriots player, Tom Brady, redefined football in the American sports landscape ever since stepping onto the field at the turn of the century. And often, greatness does not come hand-in-hand with in-born talent. Honing the said talent needs hours of dedication even outside of practice games and full group training sessions. And if there was ever a more urgent need for Batman to serve his purpose, it was to be beckoned by the greatest NFL player in history to play some catch-and-throw drills with him.

“He calls me up and says ‘Yeah [Giselle’s] not a great receiver ya know, she’s kind of gotten tired of catching balls for me. So, you want to catch some balls?’ It was one of the most memorable days of my life.”

The debate surrounding established athletes exploiting their fame or position of power to get anyone to run 35 yards just so they can get some work out done has occupied people’s minds for quite some time, and Bill Simmons in his podcast episode with Ben Affleck reveals the same. Fortunately for Brady, Affleck openly declares that: “Yeah, he’s using [people] as a workout but he can use me every day like that.”

Ben Affleck’s Love For Tom Brady is the Stuff of Rom-Coms

If Hollywood has ever been unrealistic about anything, it has to be the standards of love and relationships portrayed through romantic comedies. But Ben Affleck’s love for Tom Brady is serious enough to put a dent in that philosophy. Once the actor was given the window of opportunity to speak about the California Cool, Affleck sashayed in through the opening and filled up the entire room by explicitly fawning over the athlete where he simply couldn’t be stopped in his monologue about all the ways Tom Brady is oh – just so cool.

The first time the pair met at a White House Correspondents’ Dinner, Ben Affleck (who was 27 at the time) and Tom Brady (only 22) exchanged a few words of appreciation for each other. Affleck later recalled the incident saying: “I was like, ‘Oh my God, so great to meet you. You’re the king of Boston,’ and he goes, ‘No way, you’re the king of Boston.’ The king thinks I’m the king… I realized then that I loved him.”

Over the years, their friendship has only grown stronger and Brady, now retired at 45, now holds seven Super Bowl Rings to prove why he remains one of the greatest NFL players of all time.
