While many would expect positive comments about these women, what she said about them may be quite jarring for many spectators.

Not only did Love say some very controversial things about Swift, one of the most influential people in the world. She also said interesting things about the Queen Bey and Del Rey, which might infuriate more than a few fanbases.

Courtney Love Wages a Great War With Taylor Swift

Love gave an interview with The Standard, where she voiced her opinions on Taylor Swift. She started by saying that she did not think the singer was important from a perspective of pop culture immortality, unlike her late husband, Kurt Cobain, who has gone down in history as a legend.

“Taylor is not important,” Love said. “She might be a safe space for girls, and she’s probably the Madonna of now, but she’s not interesting as an artist.”

She acknowledged that Swift has created an excellent environment for young women, not only through her music but also through her concerts and fandom. Even comparing her to Madonna. However, she thought this fame to be fleeting, and even added that she does not think her art to be interesting. She also mentioned that she does not like the ‘Anti-Hero’ singer and believes the feeling to be mutual.

“I don’t like her and she doesn’t like me,”

This is not the first time Swift has been subjected to such criticism. Her abilities have been questioned frequently throughout her career, much like many female artists. It is perhaps, because of this, that her fans are extremely protective of her.

It would not be far-fetched to assume that Love may receive more than a little backlash after these comments.

Courtney Love Had More To Say

After her comments on Taylor Swift, Courtney Love moved on to talk about other successful artists. Speaking on Beyoncé, she stated that she appreciates the message that her new album, COWBOY CARTER, is trying to put forth, calling out the racism in white-dominant professions. However, Love mentioned that she does not enjoy her music.

Love appreciated the album’s symbolism being “about Black women going into spaces where previously only white women have been allowed.” she added, “As a concept, I love it,” Love said. “I just don’t like her music.”

“I think she should really take seven years off,” she said “Up until ‘Take Me Home Country Roads’ I thought she was great,” Love continued. “When I was recording my new album, I had to stop listening to her as she was influencing me too much.”

The singer recently released a cover to John Denver’s Take Me Home, Country Roads. Love mentioned that since the release of the song, she has not looked at Del Rey the same. She even stated that she had to stop listening to her music when Love was recording her own music as the uniqueness of Del Rey’s music was influencing her own songwriting.
