This accusation resurfaced around the time that Edebiri and Lopez were due to appear together on Saturday Night Live.

Appearing in the Scam Goddess podcast four years ago, The Bear actor who also featured in Spider-Man: Across The Spiderverse, was asked to comment by host Laci Mosley about Lopez’s Super Bowl performance that year. In the course of the conversation, Edebiri claimed that the I’m Real singer’s entire career was ‘one long scam’. She elaborated further by revealing the fact that the Maid in Manhattan star used ghost singers for her songs.

“I think she thinks that she’s still good even though she’s not singing for most of these songs,”

Edebiri’s comment which resurfaced in 2024, was significant because she and Lopez were scheduled to share space on Saturday Night Live. The Enough actor though, did not feature in the Emmy winner’s sketches and appeared only as a musical guest. Both stars seemed to share a friendly rapport, with Lopez not having reacted to Edebiri’s comment to date.

In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, the On the Floor singer elaborated on the reasons behind wanting to represent this album cinematically, and how this perfectly depicted the various ups and downs in her life over the years.

“I was very inspired to make the music at this point in my life with all of the amazing things that have happened to me in the past couple of years and once the music was done, I thought, OK, this is very special. I want to do something special. I don’t want to just take the normal route and so, I created this cinematic experience.”

Lopez added that she was in the best place in her life mentally and emotionally, and believed that this was instrumental in her wanting to share these moments of growth and happiness with her fans.
