According to recent rumors and conjecture around the DCU relaunch from James Gunn and Peter Safran, Christian Bale may reprise his role as Batman. The story concerns The Flash movie, where it has been stated that certain sequences have been cut owing to Gunn’s intention to revamp. The removal of the Wonder Woman project and Henry Cavill as Superman is said to have resulted in significant modifications towards the conclusion of The Flash.

However, now that Gunn has decided on his new Superman, and it appears that Sasha Calle might not be his pick to portray Supergirl, it implies that the events after The Flash have been modified to lead to and represent the new DCU.

According to the newest rumors, a previous Batman will make an appearance at the end of The Flash and might wind up being the new permanent DCU Batman. The story was relayed by Grace Randolph (who spilled the beans on Gunn’s Amanda Waller series) who added that it will be Damian’s father in Batman: Brave and the Bold. Randolph also claims to know who it is, but revealing the entire story would be unethical.

Randolph includes images of three older versions of Batman: the Val Kilmer Batman, the George Clooney Batman, and the Christian Bale Batman from Christopher Nolan’s Dark Knight films. Val Kilmer is certainly out due to throat cancer and a tracheotomy, George Clooney has made fun of his part several times and stated that he does not want to play the character again, leaving Christian Bale as the sole option.

Rumors have also suggested that Ben Affleck will be directing the Brave and the Bold, which means that Affleck would be directing Christian Bale as the Dark Knight returns with his son, Damian, an assassin whom Batman must defeat.

Christian Bale as Batman

Christian Bale hasn’t ruled out reprising his role as Bruce Wayne/Batman for a fourth time on the big screen. There is only one condition: Christopher Nolan must direct. The Oscar winner previously told ScreenRant that he’d don the Dark Knight’s cloak again as long as Nolan is back in charge. Nolan directed Bale in three Batman films, with The Dark Knight and The Dark Knight Rises generating more than $1 billion worldwide. Bale said,

“No. No one’s ever mentioned it to me. No one’s brought it up. Occasionally people say to me, ‘Oh, I hear you were approached and offered all this.’And I’m like, ‘That’s news to me. No one’s ever said that.’”

He continued,

“I had a pact with Chris Nolan. We said, ‘Hey, look. Let’s make three films, if we’re lucky enough to get to do that. And then let’s walk away. Let’s not linger too long.’ In my mind, it would be something if Chris Nolan ever said to himself, ‘You know what, I’ve got another story to tell.’ And if he wished to tell that story with me, I’d be in.”

Christian Bale might return as permanent Batman for the DCU, given the fact that the first film will feature him as a father, not a young Batman. The film will focus on Batman and his relationship with his son. For this Bale will be perfect, the film will be directed by Ben Affleck.
