Sweeney, who has earlier earned nominations at the Primetime Emmy Awards for her performance in Euphoria and The White Lotus Season 1, is now looking forward to cementing her place in the industry as one of the finest actresses. Her representatives are also very cautious about what stories roll out about her in the industry, and their recent reaction to a credible industry insider had some fans raise their eyebrows and ask questions.

Sydney Sweeney reacts to Jeff Sneider’s claims about her starring opposite Johnny Depp in an upcoming movie

The InSneider’s Jeff Sneider, who is widely known as an industry insider, shared on his X account that Sydney Sweeney will be seen starring opposite Johnny Depp in an upcoming movie. The movie, according to Sneider, is titled Day Drinker and is reportedly being directed by The Amazing Spider-Man director Marc Webb from a script by Alan Trezza.

But according to Discussing Film, the actress’ representative has confirmed that she will not be starring in the movie opposite Depp. Sweeney also decided to address the situation herself, as she wrote on her X account,

“Woke up to ‘rumors’, anyway, go see Immaculate in theaters this weekend.”

However, Jeff Sneider also decided to address the rumors, stating that her representatives seemed upset because he didn’t couch the news as a rumor, adding that that would have made it all better for her. The industry insider noted,

“If I said they were ‘circling’ instead of ‘attached’. The idea that she hasn’t had any talks about this is absurd, and her reps 100% know it. Just smearing me because I ruined their plans.”

He also claimed on his social media that Sweeney’s representatives ignored his calls on Friday and told him that he ‘created a mess’. Sneider smartly justified the mess by explaining that fake stories do not create a mess; real ones do, and he pointed out that maybe the team wanted a big announcement of the project that was ‘ruined’ by him. He advised the actress’ representatives to call back next time.

Fans’ divided reaction over Sydney Sweeney vs. Jeff Sneider

The industry insider is one of the insiders who has been trusted by fans over the years when it comes to giving the inside scoop. However, the news of Sydney Sweeney starring opposite Johnny Depp has left the X world divided into two, as there is a section of people who believe that the insider should have verified the news before putting it out, and supported Sweeney. The other section believes that there has to be some truth in the rumors, especially when it’s such a random pairing. Sweeney received backlash for signing the movie, something which was never confirmed!

One of the users mentioned, “’Circling’ and ‘Attached’ are two completely different things. Maybe do your job right and don’t lie, and sh*t like this won’t happen. Groundbreaking idea, I know.” Another one wrote, ‘You’re not an actual reporter; you’re an entertainment reporter. I hope that helps.’ A user noted that he should have simply reported the news as TALKS instead of stating that it was confirmed.

An X user who sided with Sneider wrote, ‘Well, I mean, you’re admitting to ruining their plans or rolling out. Should they not be upset?’ A user asked if the reps intentionally leaked something to him to test the waters of how Twitter would react. Someone else mentioned that three sources have mentioned the movie, and they cannot be wrong. However, Johnny Depp’s fans noted that she should be honored that she is being considered for a part opposite him.

Fans of the actress came in support of her as they tweeted under her statement that she had to come out and say it herself adding that it’s sad that people jump to conclusions and trashed her without confirming the news. Some users noted that her team needs to sue the journalist with another adding her fans have never doubted her for a second. People also appreciated her move of shutting down a rumor and promoting her movie.
