He shared,

“There [are] times when I’ve thought, ‘Wow, because having kids is more important to me, some of my roles have suffered’. There’s definitely a couple of films I could’ve put way more energy into but I was like, ‘No, I’d rather be with my kids’.”

Taking care of his family is something important for him. He further added,

“I don’t regret that but I’m aware. You can’t completely dismiss what that pursuit does for you either. I often find myself saying it’s all for my family but in all this I definitely have personal things I need to achieve, too. The difference is you have to open yourself up and go, ‘Well, you had kids so you forfeited a bit of that’.”

While the Snow White and the Huntsman actor has somewhat pointed himself to be the issue, he has tried his best to justify his role. After the release of Thor: Love and Thunder and filming Extraction 2, he took some time off. Around the same time, his medical condition news hit the Internet. Somehow, the two news got entangled with whispers going around that his temporary hiatus was because of the genetic predisposition for Alzheimer’s. However, the reason was completely otherwise.

Hemsworth found out that he has a high risk of Alzheimer‘s disease while filming for his Disney+ documentary series Limitless. While many thought that his temporary hiatus would be linked to his condition, he told EW

“I decided to take some time off because I was exhausted, and I wanted to be home with my family.”

He further added,

“It was interesting, because those two headlines got coupled together, that I was taking time off because of the genetic predisposition to Alzheimer’s.”

It was clear that his vacation time had nothing to do with his medical condition. As for whether a hiatus is in consideration or not, he admitted that the whole scenario surely became a big hassle.

“It got a little overdramatized like I was potentially retiring because of this thing. Which just isn’t the case.”

He is set to return with an antagonist role in Furiosa which is set to release in theatres next year on May 24. The third installment in the Extraction franchise has also been announced which will be released on Netflix. The streaming giant is yet to announce the release date of the movie.
