Michelle Pfeiffer Recalled Her First Meeting with David E. Kelley
During her recent appearance on The Drew Barrymore Show, the Oscar-nominated actress Michelle Pfeiffer opened up about her first meeting with husband David E. Kelley. When the show host asked the Marvel star if she was “being set up on a blind date” and thought that he and her sister would make a good match.
The actress agreed as she shared that she believed it was the case as they did not have much of a conversation during the date. “I did — well, only because he wasn’t speaking to me,” she said. She further explained that the blind date was supposed to be a “one-on-one outing.”
But she decided to turn it into a group date. “And somehow, I did a bad thing,” she told the talk show host before adding, “I still don’t know why it was a bad idea.” The group date included eight people, along with Pfeiffer’s sister and Kelley’s best friend. And things got so awkward that Kelley decided to leave early to go to another party.
Things Worked Out For Michelle Pfeiffer And David E. Kelley
Michelle Pfeiffer shared during her interview that she was sitting across from David E. Kelley’s best friend, and he was sitting across from her sister. And after the writer-producer left early for another party, she got anxious that the date “didn’t go well.”
“I thought, ‘Okay that went well,'” she recalled. However, things worked out for the couple as the Big Little Lies creator called her two days later, and they talked for an hour. The Stardust actress shared,
“He actually finally called me two days later — that was also not okay. He called and we ended up talking on the phone for an hour, and it just went [from] that.”
The two got married soon after meeting in November 1993, and Kelley also adopted Claudia, whom Pfeiffer adopted soon after the couple started dating. They welcomed their son, John Henry, the following year. The couple has been happily married and celebrated their “30 years of bliss” last month, with the actress sharing a rare photo with her husband on Instagram.
