The director was able to bring to the table a great combination of offensive and defensive combat style for the first time in Bloodborne, a title that was released exclusively on PlayStation back in 2014. Since then, he has managed to master this art, portrayed perfectly in his game Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice.

However, Hidetaka Miyazaki still believes the mechanic can be taken up a notch, something which he expressed in an interview via Game Informer, where he stated the following-

It’s become something much more fluid and active, I think, which was a very defining characteristic of Sekiro, and it’s something I’ve been thinking about since Bloodborne,- Perhaps in Sekiro, it appears most obviously or its the clearest form that I think that philosophy can embody. And personally, I think there’s one more level we can crank it up to and sharpen that and hone in on that mechanic even more, but I think Sekiro was a big turning point.

Miyazaki in the mentioned interview talked about how there potentially remains one more level to the mechanic that the studio aims to achieve in the coming future. The director also does not fail to credit Sekiro with being one of the major contributors to the cause, helping the director sharpen his skill in the said feature, something which will come in handy in Miyazaki’s next big project.

While his struggles to create a game containing the perfect combat mechnaics continue, Miyazaki’s Elden Ring has became FromSoftware’s best-selling franchise Unfortunately, there is still an Ideal RPG that the director is yet to make, as stated in an interview. He mentioned how being the creator of these games, he cannot remain oblivious to the gameplay, driving him incapable of experiencing the titles he directs with the perspective of a player who goes in blind.

He has also invited other game developing studios and directors to create the Ideal RPG game he has always aimed for, just so he can for once experience what he has been delivering to millions of gamers love the past few years.
