From a modeling career that won her Miss Israel 2004, Gal Gadot successfully shifted to Hollywood movies, with an impressive portfolio of action-packed movies. While initially considered for a James Bond movie role, the Red Notice actress got her breakthrough role as Gisele Yashar in Fast & Furious in 2009. But her career-defining role was her portrayal of Diana Prince / Wonder Woman in the DC Extended Universe films.

Gal Gadot has played the iconic role in six DCEU films, including two standalone Wonder Woman movies. In November 2022, James Gunn and Peter Safran assumed control of DC Studios and scrapped DCEU for a new DCU, canceling plans for a third Wonder Woman installment.

Gal Gadot Was Not Disappointed By The Cancellation Of Wonder Woman 3

Gal Gadot and director Patty Jenkins had been planning a Wonder Woman threequel after the successful theatrical run of Wonder Woman and the streaming success of Wonder Woman 1984. However, their plans were shut down by the new studio heads, who had different plans for DC’s future. Patty Jenkins’s vision did not align with the one James Gunn had for the character.

However, Gadot revealed that she was kind of relieved at the cancellation of the project. The Criminal actress shared that she no longer had to keep waiting for projects to happen and felt empowered by this prospect. The Death on the Nile actress told Total Film magazine:

“To me, starting and developing stories that I’m passionate about is an incredible thing. The fact that I don’t have to sit still at home and just wait for the next offer is something that makes me feel empowered. I enjoy doing it, it keeps me alive.”

Gadot also hinted at her intention to focus on more of her own projects in the future. While confirming that she was still interested in playing good characters, The Flash actress shared that she was passionate about telling stories from ideas that she conceived herself. Gadot further told Total Film:

“But the fact that I can go ahead and tell the stories that I’m passionate about – from ideas that I conceived, or from ideas that I find fascinating from people that want to partner with us… it’s an incredible thing.”

Notably, Gal Gadot also took on the role of producer in Wonder Woman 1984 as well as her recent Netflix project, Heart of Stone. Gadot is also set to play the Evil Queen in Marc Webb’s adaptation of Snow White.

Despite the cancellation of subsequent projects in DCEU, Wonder Woman is set to get a reboot within DCU. Recent reports suggest that James Gunn and the studio have retained Gal Gadot in the role. This comes as a surprise, considering the studio earlier parted ways with Henry Cavill and Ben Affleck, who played Superman and Batman, respectively. Patty Jenkins was also let go from the DCU.

Gadot confirmed this exciting news recently in an interview with Flaunt magazine, where she revealed that she met with Gunn and Safran. The Keeping Up with the Joneses actress shared with Flaunt:

“I was invited to a meeting with James Gunn and Peter Safran and what they told me, and I’m quoting: ‘You’re in the best hands. We’re going to develop Wonder Woman 3 with you. [We] love you as Wonder Woman— you’ve got nothing to worry about.’ So time will tell.”

It is to be assumed that Gadot may have misquoted when she referred to the film as Wonder Woman 3, as the movie would be a new edition of the Wonder Woman franchise. As for now, the only confirmed Wonder Woman project in the first chapter of the DCU, titled Gods and Monsters, is the series, Paradise Lost. It will explore the story of Themyscira or Paradise Island, the birthplace of Diana Prince.
