Sonic the Hedgehog is one of gaming’s most famous characters, spawning multiple games, films, TV series, merchandise all over the place and more. Well now we have even more content to enjoy, with the release of SEGA’s Sonic Origins Plus being released today, both in physical and digital forms!
The game includes an all-in-one bundle building off Sonic Origins, with new content including 12 Game Gear titles, a new playable character in Amy Rose – you can use her finally in Sonic the Hedgehog, Sonic the Hedgehog 2, Sonic 3 & Knuckles, and Sonic CD – and new-and-improved gameplay for Knuckles in Sonic CD, with ‘all new level paths designed for his unique abilities’.

Sonic has gone through a bit of a renaissance over the last couple of years, with the two aforementioned films being met with both commercial and critical success, staring Jim Carrey as Dr. Robotnik and Ben Schwartz as the titular character – never forget the power of the internet to change what was originally a horrendous design for Sonic into the perfect film design we have today -, and the recently released Sonic Frontiers.

Sonic Frontiers tried to adopt a new gameplay style and open the world of Sonic up, with a new story, characters and an immersive, if flawed world that allowed players to run in any direction, do anything and save the world in the process.
