Sony just confirmed that there will not be any “major” launches in games for the PS5 until 2025. But this does not mean that there will be no games at all. Some low-profile titles could launch this year, aside from Rise of the Ronin and Stellar Blade.
According to some new information, you could have another game of a very dear Sony IP, Astro. This could mean that some games with lower budgets will be coming this year. All this is thanks to the latest Giant Bomb podcast.
Sony and a new Astro Bot game incoming
One of the greatest console demos ever created to get a glimpse of the potential of the joystick and console is, without a doubt, Astro’s Playroom, a free game that you can play on your PS5. The game is pretty long for being a test of the capabilities of the console, but when it launched, it was praised by critics and players equally. Astro’s Playroom takes beautiful advantage of the incredible DualSense all of this while driving the player through the story of the PlayStation and each console.
Thanks to one of the newest Giant Bomb podcasts, a very popular and trustworthy videogame news medium, some information about one of the exclusive launches from Sony was revealed. According to Jeff Grubb from Giant Bomb, beyond the “major games” releases from Sony, some low-profile games will be available. One of these confirmations is that a new Astro game could be coming this year. Many details point out that this could be true.
The Asobi Team has a major project ahead
Various details make this little nod to the possible launch of a new Astro game possible. Japan Studio was disbanded, and Team Asobi has its own studio. Back in 2022, the studio was looking for new staff for a 3D action game.
According to the details in the job offer, this is the biggest project for the studio ever. They launched a game in VR many years ago, and they were very well received with Astro’s Playroom back in 2020.
Grubb said, “I’ve heard maybe Astro does happen this year, so if that happens, that’s pretty big for me.” He is not the only one happy about this possible release. Team Asobi has very active social media accounts, so new information could be revealed soon. Rumors of another State of Play later this year were circulating, so new games could be announced for this new event.
