Space Marine 2 had fans excited right after it was announced. Fans began stating how long they had waited for another installment in the subseries. With time, various trailers confirmed more information about the upcoming title.

This included incredibly pivotal details, such as the confirmed Tyranids that will make up a considerable chunk of the game’s offering. So far, eight Tyranids have been confirmed to feature in the game. Now, passionate fans of the original miniature wargame are highlighting a missed opportunity for the game:

I think it’s a missed opportunity for the Vanguard to dual wield combat blades like the Phobos Lieutenant from the Leviathan launch box

As expected due to its miniature war game origins, there is a profound lore and a lot of detail in the game’s universe. Space Marines not being able to dual-wield blades might come as a shocker and, quite frankly, a disappointment for Warhammer 40K enthusiasts.

However, that isn’t to say that something like that cannot be added in the long run. After all, the entire format of the miniature war game includes various starter sets and launch boxes.

Space Marine 2 Fans Shouldn’t Lose All Hope; There May Be a Leviathan DLC for the Game

Everything shown about Space Marine 2 so far makes it feel similar to the first game but better in every aspect. In the dual-wielding blades conversation, most modern video games utilize DLC and expansion packs to deliver additional content to players, so there is no reason for Space Marine 2 not to do the same.

However, readers should note that all of this is pure speculation, and there is no confirmation that a Leviathan expansion pack or any expansion pack will be coming for the game yet.

Even if the expansion comes out at some point, just like most expansion packs and downloadable content in video games, it will most likely be locked behind a paywall. Despite this being a worry for gamers, this approach resembles the boxes and sets sold separately for the tabletop miniature war game.

It doesn’t seem awfully out of place and cannot be discounted. If digital box sets become a legitimate addition to the game, there might be some hope for dual-wielding your favorite battle blades and perhaps many more unique mechanics.

If, in the future, something like that is confirmed, what additions would you, as a player or a fan, like to see coming to the game? In the comment section below, let us know your thoughts and wishlists for additional content.
