Thanks to a leaked PowerPoint with the entire pitch of Spider-Man: The Great Web, some side quests that had an open ending in Spider-Man 2 appear on the PowerPoint. Including some characters that appeared briefly in Marvel’s Spider-Man 2.

Back in December of last year, Insomniac Games suffered a horrendous hack; the studio was even asked about a ransom of 2 million dollars for information not to be released online. Unfortunately, the information was released, and part of Marvel’s Wolverine was even playable for anyone who downloaded that version of the game. Among this information were many details about the multiplayer cancelled game, Spider-Man: The Great Web. This title was scheduled to be released before Marvel’s Spider-Man 2.

Thanks to the PowerPoint leak, a lot of information about this cancelled project is now available. Spoilers ahead, thanks to this presentation, Chameleon, one of the characters that is the protagonist of the side-quest from Marvel’s Spider-Man 2.

Could have been part of one of the main stories from the Spider-Man: The Great Web content. The game was aiming to have several seasons with independent stories where Madame Web helps you fix timelines by helping many versions of Spider-Man

The studio has not said anything about the Spider-Man: The Great Web cancellation or the reason it was decided to pull the plug from the project. Fans are very sad about this, and they even started a petition to revive the game.

The studio is fully focused on Marvel’s Wolverine; according to Sony, the game will probably be out sometime in 2025. The Japanese company confirmed that there will be no more exclusive AAA games this year launched on the PlayStation 5. Rise of the Ronin and Stellar Blade will be part of these exclusive releases.

Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 has a lot of content that could have been part of the multiplayer game. Spider-Man: The Great Web has a lot of multiverse versions of the villains planned for different seasons. You could also create your own Spider-Man and choose your own powers and origin story. There were more than eight seasons planned for the game up to 2030.
