Spider-Man: Far From Home Writers Want Kraven

Kraven the Hunter is a beloved Spider-Man villain which is exactly why so many fans have been wondering if he’ll face the wallcrawler live-action. The director of Black Panther, Ryan Coogler, wanted him in T’Challa’s first movie but Sony did not give permission since they were going forward with their own solo feature film.

However, this hasn’t stopped the writers of Spider-Man: Far From Home from expressing their interest in using the character in future Tom Holland Spider-Man movies. When asked about who they would include going forward, writer Chris McKenna said,

That’s a tough one. It’s also tough because we’re dealing with MCU and Sony with it all, and some office would be like, ‘Well, you can’t use that one.’ Or what about this villain? ‘Oh, well, Fox owns that villain.’ But now that things have changed with Disney with Fox…

McKenna

“I’ve always had a soft spot for Kraven the Hunter,” Sommers added. As Kraven has had so many great runs in the comics, many fans share the sentiment. Even Jon Watts expressed a similar interest in the character.

However, McKenna has been eyeing another villain. He said,

We read a lot of [Spider-Man’s] comics that were fun. There were some really great storylines with him. Spot seems like a really cool villain.

Spots is an incredibly obscure villain and seeing McKenna shedding light on a lesser-known character like this seems promising for fans who want to see some relatively unknown baddies get the big-screen coat of paint.

Sony was reportedly in development of a number of Spider-Man villain movies including Kraven the Hunter, Mysterio, Silver Sable, and Black Cat, that would exist in the same world as Jared Leto’s Morbius and Tom Hardy’s Venom.

This no longer seems to be the case with Mysterio showing up in Spider-Man: Far From Home, Silver and Black being canned, and rumors of Sony wanting to integrate Venom into the MCU.

However, as exciting as this all is, the duo have not been hired for another MCU movie just yet and so expectations should be dampened, though it’s an exciting prospect that the writers behind these movies want to delve into the darkest corners of the comics.

But what about you? What villains do you want to see in future movies?
