The game features all you can expect in a Matrix game, such as the over-the-top gunplay and the smooth and exciting combat in Sifu. The latest Matrix movie was a flop, and fans were left disappointed, but for those waiting for something more Matrix-like, Spine could be the one.

The game was first announced in 2021 as a team-based action title but was later revealed in 2023 as a single-player story-focused action one and would launch for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC. It is set in the near-future cyberpunk Tensor City, which is currently ruled by Tensor AI.

The game follows a female protagonist called Redline, who gets a high-tech implant called Spine. The implant helps her when things start going south and both together fight the enemies. The trailer showcased the early development footage featuring cinematic gun fu combat straight out of action movies.

Players can beat the hell out of their opponents using punches, kicks, and, most importantly, guns, wielding two at once. The combat features a mix of guns, martial arts, parkour, and using the in-game environment to an advantage, such as for cover or throwing things at the enemies.

The smooth combat is heavily influenced by the kung-fu beat ’em up title Sifu, has amazingly executed hand-to-hand combat, and adds gunplay as seen in movies to make things more interesting. The trailer also shared attractive cinematic flips, disarming techniques, and headshots.

The Game Is a Stylish Combat Enthusiast’s Dream

The game is slated to launch for consoles and PC sometime next year.

Players can also dodge and outmaneuver their opponents, focus their attacks by locking onto them, and “beat em up” until they are done with them. The melee attacks and guns go hand in hand as players take on their enemies on the top of buildings, apartments, and various other locations.

The implant will also let players know of any dangers coming their way, so they can be prepared. The game seems very stylish, and when players engage in combat, they will also be able to enjoy the cinematic set pieces that add a sense of thrill and excitement.

Players are excited upon seeing the trailer and are looking forward to the game’s release. They are also suggesting developers add more animations and make them faster for an enhanced experience. A fan suggested that the movement speed of the character should be increased, saying that the “game looks super promising” and they are excited for it.

The game does not have a release date yet but is expected to launch in 2025. Are you looking forward to playing the game upon its release? Let us know in the comments section down below.
