Blade Runner 2099 series was announced a year ago after which no announcement or details were made public. After a year-long silence, casting rumors swirl around the awaited series. The Sci-fi film Blade Runner reinvented the sci-fi genre and set new standards. After a successful run, the franchise will now try its hand at the OTT platforms. Given the mood, content, and spirit of the stories and characters, it is no doubt the series too will do equally well.

Casting rumors have finally started doing the rounds. Since the show is set way later than the timeline of the last film, it is highly unlikely that many of the old cast will make it to the show. There is no confirmation of who will make it to the show but a source reveals an actor who is being eyed for the show.

Jodie Comer is a great casting choice for Blade Runner 2099, as we are all aware of her acting prowess. She hones the ability to play deep, mentally troubled, and dark characters with spectacular ease. Comer also had experience with sci-fi films as she made a cameo in Star Wars The Rise of Skywalker, where the Killing Eve star played Rey’s mother Miramir. However, it is very hard to say anything for sure as the story is yet to be confirmed. The show is said to begin as a sequel to the film Blade Runner 2049. Ridley Scott and Jodie Comer have collaborated on The Last Duel, a historical epic following a war of dignity.

The series’ specific storyline is still a mystery, but the title makes it clear that it will take place several years after Denis Villeneuve’s Blade Runner 2049. It also suggests that Harrison Ford might not be able to reprise his role as Deckard, giving more fuel to the rumor mill.
