Aspyr launched the Star Wars Battlefront Classic Collection yesterday, and fans of the popular games are not happy at all. The principal feature of the game is the online matches. Back in 2004, when the second Battlefront launched, all players did was play multiplayer.
But in this new version, fans can’t even do that since the servers just don’t have the capacity to endure more than 200 players. Unfortunately, this is not the only issue with Star Wars: Battlefront Classic Collection; the space required in your SDD or HDD makes no sense either.
Fans are not happy with the result of Star Wars: Battlefront Classic Collection
Between the many issues with this remastered version of the classic games, Star Wars: Battlefront Classic Collection just doesn’t work in the most necessary way: online multiplayer. Both titles have some work done in the resolution to be compatible with the current times. Aside from the resolution, not much work has been put into this collection, and the studio has also improved the hero mode of the titles. Players have also noticed another weird thing: the collection needs 62 GB of space to be installed.
This was first noticed by X user, GmanLives. Comparing it to the original Battlefront 2 game of 2005, which only requires 4.3 GB of space, is a very big difference. Other users quickly commented on this, and the post went viral.
The negative backlash towards the game was huge, and fans are very disappointed with the collection. Star Wars: Battlefront Classic Collection has mostly negative reviews on Steam. Players complained about poor controls, bad servers, bad resolution, and poorly optimized assets.
Star Wars: Battlefront is once again not fulfilling fan expectations
Fans also reported other issues like bugs and match duration, but most importantly, because of the server capacity, they couldn’t play online. Many players call this game a cash grab; with these kinds of words, it did not help any game, especially after just being released.
Another issue that has been added to the list is that the game does not have a crossplay function. Aspyr has commented on the server situation, but the studio could not solve this. Another thing that players didn’t like is that Star Wars: Battlefront Classic Collection cost $35.
Back in the forums of Aspyr, the team behind the game reported critical issues with the servers, high ping in matches, and just issues with the pairing system in general. The studio is working very hard to solve this, according to the words that they posted on the forums.
