Star Wars Jedi: Survivor isn’t too big and Beautiful for Last Generation Consoles, it Seems

Back in April of this year, we received one of the best Star Wars games to date, which was Star Wars Jedi: Survivor, and when it was released, it was only released on current-gen consoles, so the PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S and PC. Even though there were some issues on PC, the game was very highly rated and was a lot of fun for Star Wars fans for a long time, and until now Star Wars Jedi: Survivor was only going to be released on those consoles, but now that is going to change.

What has brought this change to Star Wars Jedi: Survivor?

Star Wars Jedi Survivor Isn't Too Big And Beautiful For Last Generation Consoles It Seems

Back in the early stages of development, developer Respawn and publisher Electronic Arts had already stated that there were no plans to release Star Wars Jedi: Survivor for older generations of consoles at that time as they wanted to utilise the full capabilities of the new generation consoles to fully immerse players in the game and make the world feel more alive.

There are many reasons that this change has come about, as development can be tricky in this new age of gaming as many developers are working more towards bringing out games for newer generation consoles as they are where the demand is, and not as many gamers will still use their older generation consoles.

Due to this, many development companies will try to focus their work on creating a game that will run on a newer generation console as it will meet higher demand, and if so, they will downgrade the game so that it is possible to run on an older generation console by doing things like lowering the graphics, reducing frame rates or just generally making the game smaller in terms of asset loading range and increasing loading screen time.

When will Star Wars Jedi: Survivor come to older-gen consoles, and will it affect fixes for the current-gen consoles?

At the moment, there isn’t a date as to when this change will happen for Star Wars Jedi: Survivor, but we can assume that it will be relatively soon as Respawn won’t want to leave it too late; otherwise, it may clash with other major titles releasing later this year, which will cause a lot of issues for Star Wars Jedi: Survivor.

So far, these changes are not going to get in the way of Respawns plans to create “additional performance improvements” for the current version of Star Wars Jedi: Survivor on PC, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S, which is good news as many players will be excited to get their hands back on the game when specific bugs are fixed.
