A new report has suggested that a Mandalorian game is in the works and may be coming in the next few years, but some details about the game also indicate that the developer might already be going wrong with some elements that would not do justice to the character and the overall game.

According to the sources of Insider Gaming, Respawn Entertainment, the developer known for Apex Legends, and Star Wars games such as Jedi: Fallen Order and Jedi: Survivor is working on a first-person Mandalorian game that is said to be in the “early stages of development.” Back in 2022, EA announced that Respawn Entertainment was working on three games in the franchise, and it is presumably one of them.

The main character in the game is reportedly going to be a bounty hunter that players will control, but the exact identity is not yet known. The game will be set during the time of the Galactic Empire’s dominance across the galaxy, and players are tasked with taking on bounty hunters and capturing them dead or alive for cash rewards.

The report adds that Respawn Entertainment is focusing on “mobility” and “style.” It is mentioned that for high mobility, story-wise, players will be able to use the signature jetpack of the character for horizontal dashing, vertical jumping, and boost sliding, just like in Apex Legends.

Moreover, the game is also said to be “very fast-paced,” and players playing in this style will be heavily rewarded as their health regenerates based on the successful kills. Players will also be able to use the character’s weapons and gadgets, like a wrist rocket, grapple hook, visor for tagging enemies and bounty, and much more.

The Game Will Not Be Open World

The game will reportedly have lineal levels and won’t be open world.

Although everything till now sounds very exciting, there is one thing that Respawn Entertainment may already be getting wrong. It is reported that the game will be built around linear levels that will take place on different planets in the universe and won’t be in an open world.

This seems like a missed opportunity and might go wrong in so many ways but hopefully Respawn makes the level-design work like it did in the single-player campaign of Titanfall 2 but having an open-world game would have been epic. For instance, imagine Red Dead Redemption, but in the Star Wars universe.

There is also no word on whether the game will be a multi-player title or when it might be released but it is reported that it might take a minimum of one or two years before fans get to hear anything. What are your thoughts about the Mandalorian game? Let us know in the comments.
