Massive Entertainment received the responsibility of a lifetime to create an open-world game set in the Star Wars universe with an original story that has nothing to do with the existing storylines of the Skywalker Saga.

The developers initially shared impressive gameplay footage that featured exciting gunplay and the protagonist involved in a high-speed chase being pursued by the forces of the Empire. It was a hit among fans.

This preview, however, made some gamers skeptical about Star Wars Outlaws, and for good reason. Game development can take a toll and is not for the faint of heart. It is difficult to create a perfect open-world game, especially in one of the biggest entertainment franchises of all time.

The visuals looked lackluster and were a far cry from what was previously shown. It looked as if the developers made a last-minute decision and undid what was promised.

Some fans are already making fun of the gameplay quality.

Players are joking that the game was built for an outdated gaming community and went further and further back in time.

The gaming community is bothered by the quality and is now drawing comparisons to older projects. It is unclear whether or not this is the intended vision for Outlaws.

The developers hinted that the world will feel lived in and that there will be no dull moments or dead air. It would be tough to justify this claim considering the dated quality.

Despite having the advantage of a popular franchise on the title, many in the gaming community have already given up on it. There is now a short window between the release, and the developers better improve what they can.

Fans were looking forward to seeing how the developers would utilize the technology used in previous games, but the open-world atmosphere may not be enough to salvage this ambitious project.

It is upsetting that a game with great could potentially fall flat. Perhaps this will be another cautionary tale for devs to avoid biting more than one can chew. Fans who expected to have a great time with the game may wind up going to the distant past.

Perhaps it is best not to judge a game before diving into it in depth, however, if this gameplay shown is what players can expect of the entire game, the developers may need to prepare themselves.
