One Reddit poster kicked things off by questioning if Assassin’s Creed Shadows would be better than Star Wars Outlaws. This simple query opened the floodgates for fans to voice their opinions. Some users felt it was an unfair comparison, pointing out that these games belong to different genres. They suggested that Shadows should be compared to other Assassin’s Creed titles, specifically the RPG trilogy if anything.

While both Shadows and Outlaws offer open-world experiences, they’re still pretty different and focus on different player preferences. Shadows is a continuation of the historical action-adventure series, that focuses on stealth, parkour, and intricate social systems. The setting is of Japanese history and culture, offering a unique perspective on the Assassin’s Creed lore since it is a location we haven’t seen in the series yet.

On the other hand, Outlaws provides a more action-oriented experience set in the expansive Star Wars universe. The game focuses on space combat, exploration, and the freedom to choose between factions and a reputation system. It offers a more sandbox-like experience.

Some users were also quick to argue that Shadows has shown better gameplay in the game demos and trailers. They couldn’t understand why anyone would choose Outlaws over Shadows, especially when Star Wars Jedi: Survivor, another strong contender, is also in the mix.

Star Wars Jedi: Survivor Seems to Have the Edge Over Outlaws

When Star Wars games are compared, Survivor seems to be much better than Outlaws. The combat is a lot better and more in-depth, and feels and looks a lot better than the gameplay in the demos of Outlaws that we have seen so far.

But not everyone was convinced. Some fans pointed out that not all gamers enjoy the playstyle of Jedi: Survivor, which is lightsaber-focused and has a Soulslike approach to game and combat design.

A few fans appreciated the story and combat in Survivor, but found the relentless platforming and other Jedi power puzzles a bit much. For them, a more relaxed open-world experience like that typically offered by the developer was more appealing, and they were looking for a new type of Star Wars game.

In the end, whether Shadows will be better than Outlaws or even Jedi: Survivor is still up in the air. Fans will have to wait until the games are released to make a definitive judgment. Outlaws releases on the 30th of August, while Shadows releases on the 15th of November.
