While some absolutely love the open-world Star Wars adventure, others couldn’t get over the typical Ubisoft formula of the game. The general consensus is there are problems and bugs with the project that prevent it from being a really solid game.

Buyer Beware – Star Wars Outlaws Bugs & Performance Issues

Currently sitting with a 77 on Metacritic, the project has managed to deliver an open-world Star Wars experience that fans of the franchise can have fun with. However, for players who are not familiar with the space opera, the problems and overall Ubisoft gameplay loop rear its head.

On top of all of this, the version reviewers and critics played are littered with bugs and performance issues.

Especially when certain missions will force the player to perform stealth, bugs like this are frustrating and make these missions impossible to complete.

One can hope that the developer launches a day one patch to fix most of these bugs. Otherwise, this will be yet another Star Wars game to launch in an unplayable state like Jedi: Survivor

Despite the game being in development for several years, the developer still shipped the game out in this state. Day one patches can fix these bugs but that shouldn’t be the solution all the time.

Triple-A games do take a tremendous amount of work but rushing it out the door is never the solution. Maybe that’s why reviewers only received code last Monday, about two weeks out from the release date.

On the bright side, there are more positive things to say than negative. According to reviewers/critics, the atmosphere and graphics get the environment accurate. The gameplay is relatively smooth between gunplay and stealth mechanics.

The downside is everything feeling underbaked, like everything works but it’s not 100% there. Star Wars Outlaws could’ve been the best game for the franchise in awhile.

As the first open-world game in the series, there’s definitely potential in branching out and polishing it up for a sequel. Unfortunate that Ubisoft couldn’t nail it on the first go-around.

But let’s hope sales numbers and fan reception is good enough to greenlight a sequel. Players can upgrade to the Gold Edition to receive up to three days early access to play it. Otherwise, wait until August 30 to try the game out.
