So with the release of Starfield a mere matter of weeks away, there has certainly been plenty of news and reveals about what to expect from the upcoming title. And given that this is Bethesda’s first title to feature a new universe in over two decades, there’s no surprise that it’ll be compared to the Fallout and Elder Scrolls Universes.

And the latest news coming out of the Bethesda camp is that the game will feature 3 Religions and 9 different factions. Now if you’ve ever played any Fallout game or Elder Scrolls title, Religion and Factions will be second nature to you, as it is a prominent part of the gameplay.

Starfield Religions – What are they?

Starfield
Which Religion would you opt for in Starfield?

The three Religions that feature in Starfield will be ‘Enlightened’, ‘Sanctum Universum’ and ‘The Great Serpent’. There is suggestion that Enlightened looks to be Starfield’s answer to Scientology and is in stark contrast to Sanctum Universum. The latter of which although we don’t know much about, are said to be quite cheery and happy to see Traders. But if they adverse to Enlightened then that may cause tensions in the game.

Now the last religion, ‘The Great Serpent’ seemed like something taking inspiration from a Conan movie or a Harry Potter book but apparently not. Apparently you have to jump a lot in the game and if you fail to do so on a regular basis, you will lose health points. What’s the end goal here? Time will tell.

Starfield Factions – Who can you join?

Starfield
Like other Bethesda games, Religions and Factions will feature prominently in Starfield

Now although there are nine Factions confirmed (at this time), not all of them are joinable apparently. But thankfully we have a note of which you can and can’t.

‘Constellation’ Faction is the first one you are bound to come across, located in the Alpha Centauri System and is a joinable faction which will aid in exploration. The ‘Crimson Fleet’ are also joinable, located in the Kryx System and are rumoured to be evil bandits. However the ‘Ecliptic Mercenaries’ who are rumoured to be bounty hunters are not joinable sadly.

The ‘Freestar Collective’ is one of the biggest joinable factions, found in the Cheyenne System and are said to consist of confederation settlers. ‘House Va’ruun’ is another faction which you are unable to join and although little is known about them, rumour states they are reigious zealots. ‘Ryujin Industries’ is a corporation faction found in the Volii System which is said to be very difficult to join, so there may be huge benefit in that one.

If you come across the ‘Spacers’ faction, you may want to have your wits about you. They are not joinable but are said to be a nasty bunch of space adventurers. ‘United Colonies’ is a joinable faction found in Alpha Centauri, for those who favour military and politics. And lastly is the ‘XenoFresh Corporation’ who are also found in the Volii and if you favour dodgy dealings and quick cash, this may be the faction for you.

Could you see yourself joining the Crimson Fleet faction in Starfield?

So there you have it. All the Religions and Factions that are confirmed at this time ahead of the launch on 6 September.
