The Elder Scrolls 5: Skyrim – Special Edition was released back in 2016 with remastered art and effects among other improvements and Bethesda continues to release new updates for the game. After Starfield‘s release and the bad reception the game received, gamers are still waiting for Bethesda to release a new DLC and bring improvements to the game.
In the midst of all that, Bethesda’s continuous support for the fan-favorite Elder Scrolls title continues to impress fans. There was an update late last year as well, and now a new update addresses several issues in the game apart from also bringing platform-specific improvements and fixing crash issues as well.
The Elder Scrolls 5: Skyrim – Special Edition Gets a New Update
After the lackluster performance of Starfield, it seems the studio’s biggest release from last year is now put on the back-burner as the developers have brought yet another update to The Elder Scrolls 5: Skyrim – Special Edition.
Just last month Bethesda released a surprising new update for Skyrim Special Edition that fixed several bugs and added a new Creations Menu and Steam Deck support. Bethesda’s regular updates have kept the game relevant even after all these years since its release.
After the Special Edition release, Bethesda also released a VR edition of the game and an Anniversary Edition as well that included community-created content. The latest update patch notes mention an update to the controller that mentions that the right analog stick will now be “exclusively bound to the description field.
When using a controller “Search” is now bound to “A”, not Right Trigger.” Menu items are also fixed not to “bounce” anymore. Epic Store edition was fixed to resolve an issue that prevented Creation Credits from being displayed in the user’s account.
On the PlayStation consoles, the update fixed the game from crashing if players entered the in-game Creations Menu repeatedly. Creation names flickering on screen was also fixed on the consoles, and the option “Delete all Creations” also works as intended.
On the Xbox consoles, the update fixed an issue that would “kick the player to the Main Menu when attempting to download Survival Mode or Goldbrand.” Another issue on the “Show Missing Content” search box in the game on Xbox consoles was also fixed and now works as intended.
The game on PCs downloaded through GOG was also updated to fix a bug that prevented the Anniversary Upgrade prompt from working. Apart from this, a bug that resulted in wrong saves being overwritten was also fixed. Several resources were also fixed in the update.
Fans Still Wait for Starfield DLC and Updates
Seeing as how Bethesda hasn’t let go of their fan-favorite title after all these years, Starfield gamers continue to hope and wait for a DLC to drop. Fans expect the eventual release of the DLC for Starfield sometime later this year, titled Shattered Space.
It will be a paid DLC but that hasn’t hampered the mood among Starfield gamers as it’s still highly anticipated. The DLC is expected to bring new maps and new ways to customize and build ships with new modules among other fixes.
Starfield opened to a bad reputation that affected sales heavily after a record-breaking opening week. The opening week also saw a record number of concurrent players of the game recorded on Steam. Fans will now be hoping the DLC brings in enough changes to the game to pull in more players and receive better reviews overall.
Skyrim, on the other hand, is still popular among the gaming community as the game is still getting support to fix bugs and crashes. The remastered editions on the latest consoles have also pulled in new gamers regularly.
