Some Starfield fans may be disappointed with the latest news making the rounds. And for those who enjoy a “winner takes all” approach to interactions with NPCs, if the rumours are to be believed, this may not be part of the gameplay in the upcoming title.

Previously in Bethesda’s titles such as Elder Scrolls and Fallout, players could choose to dabble in a little light hearted looting, taking what they could get their hands on from enemies. Well, whatever you can carry without being over encumbered that is. But according to a leaker, this isn’t the case with the newest Bethesda offering.

What’s New With Bethesda’s Starfield?

Starfield
Starfield is yet to launch on console, but PC Gamers have been providing plenty of updates

According to a leaker posting on 4chan, “you can’t loot everything.” This was in response to a question posed where they were asked “can you loot everything equipped by the enemy or is it randomly generated?”

But it seems that when this made it’s way to the GamingLeaksandRumours subreddit, fans were less than impressed with the remarks. Many of whom questioned how believable the leaker was.

“People actually having a discussion about a 4chan leak lmao.” – u/BlueChamp10

And others voiced their frustration about the change to the looting option;

“Best loot system was in Skyrim . Why change that ? It was really immersive .” – u/fuckmylife193

“That would really piss me off.” – u/RipMcStudly

Starfield
Starfield is one of the most anticipated games of the year, but will it match the hype?

However it appears some players actually welcomed the news of the looting system, believing it to be more in keeping with the game itself;

“I don’t know why fully lootable corpses are such a big deal. They probably did it to balance the economy. Anyway, it’s not realistic to be able to loot someone’s spacesuit after killing them, as it should be too damaged to be used.” – u/delijoe

“It would be better for the atmosphere of the game. Imagine you loot someone in space and he wearing a space suit and then bam!! naked only underpants. I would not like that, it was funny in skyrim and fallout but I hope in starfield it’s different.”  – u/RabeDennis

Starfield
Players were divided on the latest leaks regarding the looting system in Starfield.

We should probably take the comments from the post on 4chan with a pinch of salt, as we don’t have all the facts at this time. But if this was indeed the case, then it would be pretty disappointing as it was an integral part of the gameplay for developing skills etc. And sure Starfield has to have a system in place in keeping with the gameplay, but what’s to stop using the looting system that’s been tried and tested previously? If it’s not broke, don’t fix it guys!
