During a PlayStation interview with director Hyung-Tae Kim, he was asked about the stylish action in the game, and how did they achieve it. He replied that it was designed in such a way that everyone could enjoy the actions. He further added,

But we don’t want it to be a game where players simply attack the enemies aggressively and perform combos against them

For him, it is important for the players to observe the enemies and their movements. They should understand their combat flow and plan their move accordingly. Skills trees are also there, to help players in increasing their skills. Moreover, they can also use equipment like Exospine and Gear to increase their skills.

He also added,

As each piece of equipment performs differently, players should choose their battle style to be speed-focused, aggressive to overwhelm enemies, or cautious throughout the enemy attack

Moreover, according to him, the game will have reasonable difficulty. However, the players can always use the Action Assist option if they find it to be too challenging for them.

Hyung-Tae Kim talks about Stellar Blade’s theme

He was inspired by a strike of taxi divers, who were protesting against the coming of self-driving cars. The drivers feared that these new-age cars would make them jobless. This led him to think about the repercussions of an event where humans are completely replaced by non-humans.
