Hollywood veteran and martial artist Steven Seagal is notoriously famous for the active criticism of his fellow action stars and martial artists. Going as far as saying how he doesn’t feel like some of them are particularly tough guys, let alone martial artists. In an interview on a talk show before, he was also seen talking about how he thinks his senior in the industry, the legend of legends, Chuck Norris was too weak to protect anyone in a tight spot.

After making his debut in the 1988 movie, Above the Law, Seagal shot to fame with his character Casey Ryback in Under Siege. After that, the Executive Decision star did not have to look back on his movie career. His life out of the screens, though, has not been smooth sailing, especially because of some of his controversial beliefs.

Steven Seagal’s Hollywood career

During the abrupt bloom of martial arts movies in the 1980s to early ’90s, Steven Seagal garnered a lot of appreciation among the audience. Rightfully so, as the then-A-lister brought to the screens a fresh point of view by imitating the untouchably calm and indestructible demeanor of a Japanese martial arts Sensei. As a result, his most iconic movies of that period gained millions in fortune in the worldwide box office collection.

From Under Siege which gained $156 million, Executive Decision ($122 million) to Under Siege 2 ($104 million), he seemed to be at the peak of his career. However, due to his active criticism towards other industry veterans, and even misdemeanor allegations, he now stands at a $16 million net worth.

Steven Seagal thinks Chuck Norris is too weak

Seagal has landed in hot waters many times over the years because of shading his peers and even seniors in the industry very outspokenly. One such industry veteran is none other than the man, the myth, the legendary Carlos Ray “Chuck” Norris with a net worth of $70 million.

Seagal mentioned in an interview with Arsenio Hall, “Chuck is in his mid-70s,”  when the latter asked him if he thinks The Delta Force star is a tough guy. To elaborate, according to Seagal, he thinks Chuck Norris is too weak to protect anyone. Seagal is also known for dissing Jean-Claude Van Damme, resulting in their long-standing feud.

To him, it’s a matter of perspective whether Van Damme is a champion anywhere or not, even with his various championship records and other martial artists claiming that his technique is pretty ideal. He added, “and I mean, I’m not being catty or anything, I wish the guy all the best. But there are an awful lot of people who say that’s not true.”

Steven Seagal also responded to Hall’s question of whether Michael Jai is a tough guy or not with a “can I laugh in your face?” Well, with his ever-expanding controversial statements and deteriorating acting, it is kind of clear to see why he became a “Hollywood tragedy” as his ex-wife Kelly LeBrock claimed.
