Every year, Super Bowl halftime shows are a major center of attraction for the viewers and spectators of the biggest football event of the year. Over the years, a lot of famous artists and musicians have performed at the Super Bowl halftime shows. However, Rihanna’s performance at the 2023 Super Bowl halftime show will definitely go down as one of the best performances in the history of the event as the singer took to the stage for the first time in 5 years.
Rihanna’s incredible halftime performance at the 2023 Super Bowl
When it was announced that Rihanna would be headlining the 2023 Super Bowl halftime show, a lot of fans were skeptical about the decision as the Barbadian singer had not released an album in seven years and had not done a performance in almost five years.
Well, as fate would have it, Rihanna’s Super Bowl halftime show was massively successful and it went on to become the most watched halftime show in the history of Super Bowl. Once in an interview with CBS, the nine-time Grammy winner also opened up about performing at the Super Bowl LVII halftime show and said,
“When I first got the call to do it again this year, I was like ‘You sure? Like, I’m three months postpartum, should I be making major decisions like this right now? Like, I might regret this.’ When you become a mom there’s something that just happens where you feel like you can take on the world, you can do anything and the Super Bowl is one of the biggest stages in the world, so as scary as that was because I haven’t been on stage in seven years, there’s something exhilarating about the challenge of it all.
It’s important for me to do this this year. It’s important for representation. It’s important for my son to see that.”
The music icon, Usher headlined the Super Bowl halftime show at Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas last weekend where Kansas City Chiefs emerged victorious over the San Francisco 49ers.
Fans talk about the best Super Bowl halftime performance of all time
After the end of Super Bowl LVIII where the Kansas City Chiefs came out on top over the San Francisco 49ers in Las Vegas, fans took to X(formerly Twitter) to talk about the best Super Bowl halftime performance of all time and it wasn’t Rihanna’s or Dr. Dre’s performance.
According to fans, the best Super Bowl performance was that of Bane from The Dark Knight Rises when he destroyed the city of Gotham to trap the police personnel underground and leveled the stadium. Bane also went on to arm a nuclear bomb in front of the spectators and killed the only scientist who was capable of disarming that bomb in front of thousands.
