Christian Bale has a prolific career, as he has worked in a variety of films where he embodied the role and became synonymous with the characters he played. From drama to action films, Bale can play any role and his performance has been commended as he is a recipient of an Academy Award and winner of 2 Golden Globe Awards.
One of his iconic films was American Psycho which was released in 2000. The crime thriller was initially thought to be a box office bomb, but Christian Bale’s outstanding performance saved the day, making the film a hit and a cult classic. However, it looks like Lionsgate has decided to make a modern remake of the film, and fans of the original film are not happy, as they comment against it on social media.
Lionsgate Decides To Remake Christian Bale’s American Psycho
Christian Bale’s American Psycho was based on the original novel by Bret Easton Ellis, the film revolved around the life of Patrick Bateman, a young and wealthy banker who has a very structured routine. However, as the film progresses the viewers learn about his psychopathic behaviors and deteriorating mental state. The film was outstanding and it collected $34.2 million at the worldwide box office.
However, Jeff Sneider, the renowned industry insider shared on X that Lionsgate is going to make a modern remake of the cult classic film. However, he did not share other details like the cast or the director of the film, as the film is in the early stages of development at the studio. Nevertheless, fans of the film were not delighted to hear about the remake as they criticized the film studio for ruining the memories they had of the classic film.

Holly wood should do remakes of movies that had good ideas but performed terrible or were made poorly instead of movies that are well established that are doomed to flop

Needless to say, the fans were fuming with the idea of the remake, as Christian Bale had portrayed the role of Patrick Bateman so perfectly that it would be impossible for fans to see someone else portraying the role.
People Didn’t Take Christian Bale’s Serious Batman
Another iconic film that Christian Bale has portrayed in his career was Bruce Wayne/ Batman in Christopher Nolan’s Dark Knight trilogy. The trilogy is considered to be one of the best superhero trilogies ever made as it combined elements of real-life crime and the concept of anarchy was showcased in a superhero film.
However, Nolan’s film was extremely risky as it combined larger-than-life elements in the film and fans were not sure about the new direction that Nolan was taking. During an exclusive interview with the Washington Post, the Empire of the Sun actor shared how people would laugh at his face when he shared that he would play the role of a serious Batman in the trilogy.
“I would [tell people] we’re going to sort of do Batman but take him seriously. I had tons of people laugh at me and just say, ‘Well that’s just not going to work at all.’ So, it’s wonderful to be a part of a trilogy that proved those people wrong. I’m not certain if it kick-started [the MCU] but it certainly helped along the way.”
The risk paid off, as the trilogy was immensely loved by the fans, and even after so many years, the films are still relatable and watched by the fans with the same enthusiasm and interest.
American Psycho can be rented on Apple TV.
