While both McConaughey and Hudson might be open to a sequel, they indeed say that the script should be right, and do not want to simply return for a cash grab. How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days was a huge hit when it was released in 2003, grossing $177 million against a $50 million budget (via Box Office Mojo). It remains to be seen whether a potential sequel gets made.
Matthew McConaughey Is Proud Of The Longevity of How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days
Even after 20 years after the hit rom-com How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days, people continue to discover and appreciate the chemistry of its lead stars Matthew McConaughey and Kate Hudson. In an interview with E! News, McConaughey revealed that the ending of the film could have easily led to a sequel.
The actor further pointed out that the film was one of the better rom-coms he did in his career and he enjoyed being a part of the film. McConaughey said,
I mean, How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days is teed up, you know, teed up for one that you could easily do a sequel. And that was a really good one. As far as romantic comedies go, that was a really good one. And it lasts! People still love that one. I enjoyed that one quite a bit.
McConaughey has steered away from the rom-com genre since the 2010s and a potential return to it could be exciting. After a brief hiatus from acting, the actor is set for a comeback with the crime thriller The Rivals of Amziah King, and the drama film The Lost Bus.
