2K’s WWE and Capcom’s Street Fighter are among the most popular fighting game franchises in the world. WWE games gained traction after World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE) became popular in the 2000s, while the Street Fighter franchise was kicked off almost a decade before the first WWE game.
Many brilliant minds at Capcom worked on the latest Street Fighter installment, Street Fighter 6, and in a recent interview, some of the people who have created the game have expressed interest in working on a crossover between the WWE and Street Fighter franchises.

Recently, producers of Capcom’s Street Fighter 6 appeared for an interview with HipHopGamer and revealed that they are interested in working on a crossover between WWE and Street Fighter series.
One of the producers said:
On the team, they’ve done illustrations of Zangief fighting the Undertaker and stuff. Of course, if [I have] the opportunity, yeah, I wanna make it happen, but like, will they let me? That’s the question.
Later in the interview, HipHopGamer also contacted Nerds Clothing, an independent streetwear company based in New Jersey, pitching in the idea for merch since the brand owns licenses to both of these franchises.
WWE has collaborated with various video game franchises in the past such as Konami’s Bomberman, Epic Games’ Fortnite, Netmarble’s The King of Fighters All Star, and Blue Mammoth Games’ Brawlhalla.

In 2019, Capcom producer Yoshinori Ono told Eurogamer that Capcom was offered to work with Mortal Kombat to feature a Street Fighter character in the game, however, Capcom turned that offer down.
Mortal Kombat and Street Fighter both are indeed fighting games but their themes are quite different. Mortal Kombat‘s dark theme was probably not ideal for a collaboration. Yoshinori Ono said,
It’s true that a proposal for a Street Fighter character in Mortal Kombat was rejected by Capcom – but it wasn’t me personally!
It’s not like Capcom hates working with other franchises as they’ve worked with Marvel and Tatsunoko. Do you think fans will get to see a WWE and Street Fighter collaboration in the future? If yes, let us know in the comments what would you like to see in the game.
