The thought of a Pirates of the Caribbean film without Johnny Depp isn’t something many fans find comfort in. However, the upcoming film has been leaning mostly towards that very possibility. For all five films so far, the actor has been front and center in each and every one of them. Disney had taken the tough and controversial decision of firing Depp in the course of the defamation trial against Amber Heard.

Although a 6th part of the franchise was in the works at that time, the chances seem nonexistent of his return. The film was scrapped altogether. However, it has been picked up once again with many renowned celebrities rumored to be a part of the film. Depp’s name isn’t one of them. That is not to say that he may not return. At least, that is what producer Jerry Bruckheimer believes.

Jerry Bruckheimer Wants Johnny Depp Back

Jerry Bruckheimer is all set to reboot the Pirates of the Caribbean franchise with a sixth movie. While the cast is yet to be announced, many names have been sprouting out and about in throughout the internet. However, none of them include the name of Johnny Depp. When speaking with Entertainment Tonight, the producer talked about how excited he is to make the film and whether or not he would like for Depp to play Jack Sparrow again.

If it was up to me, of course. I love having Depp, Bruckheimer stated. He’s a great actor and good friend…I’ve certainly spoken to him, but we’ll see what happens.

He claimed that were things in his hand alone, he would have gotten Depp onboard without a second thought. He also stated that Bruckheimer happened to have a talk with the Alice in Wonderland actor. While the nature of their conversation hadn’t been revealed, hope sparkled in the producer’s eyes.

While he is on a dedicated path of trying to convince the actor to come back as Captain Jack Sparrow, that may not happen simply because the franchise wasn’t fair to him.

Johnny Depp Might Never Come Back

Hope appears to be pretty, sparkly, and laced with desire. However, hope is not always a guaranteed possibility. Jerry Bruckheimer might have learned this the hard way. His endless attempts to get Johnny Depp back on board for Pirates of the Caribbean may be futile. Johnny Depp is very less likely to return because the betrayals of such a degree are hard to get over.

Captain Jack Sparrow was a character I built from the ground up and was something that I, of course, put a lot of [myself] into the character and also having worked on these films with these people and added much of myself, much of my own re-writing of the dialogue and scenes and jokes. I didn’t quite understand how, after that long relationship and quite a successful relationship certainly for Disney, that suddenly I was guilty until proven innocent.

Johnny Depp went on record during the defamation trial against Amber Heard to state that he felt awfully betrayed after being fired from the franchise. His career took a drastic hit that took a long time to recover from and the work he put into making Jack Sparrow such a legend was commendable. All of that being disregarded much before he was even convicted of anything felt like a backstabbing betrayal.

To recover from something like that is different and even praised at. However, to go back to the same thing, that is something Depp might never do simply because of all the pain and hurt the studios put him through regardless of his innocence.
