Although developer Studio Zero, a subsidiary of Persona’s Atlus, has been quite vocal by sharing constant updates about its new JRPG with the community, getting a deep dive into what players can expect from the title was becoming necessary since the game is only a few months away now.

Move Aside, Personas; the Archetypes Are Coming, and They Seem to Have More Depth

The Persona similarities continue with the power system in the upcoming JRPG, but unlike the Atlus series, the characters in Metaphor will have the ability to transform their jobs into powerful Archetypes, according to director Katsura Hashino and lead artist Shigenori Soejima.

These Archetypes, which will prove to be the root of the players’ ultimate attacks, get created when a character relies on their inner will and overcomes any sort of fear that they might have.

None of the Archetypes will be the same as one another when it comes to their strengths, weaknesses, and unique powers, which should make gamers want to experiment with different characters to see what fits them the best.

While the Metaphor trailer that was revealed at The Game Awards 2023 was much more of an introduction to the game, the new footage provides a bit more information about it, including a look at the various designs that will follow the Archetypes.

It was also mentioned that the game is going to feature over 40 different Archetypes, so there is no shortage of otherworldly beings for Persona fans in the creators’ upcoming effort. The Studio Zero game is scheduled to launch on October 11, 2024.
