After Cruise and Holmes’ divorce, she had an estranged relationship with her father. However, she is about to enter a new phase of her life and reach new milestones with the onset of her college experience. She has largely grown up in the public eye but this might just be the opportunity to carve her own identity.
Tom Cruise Fulfills Financial Commitment Despite Estrangement
As per reports, despite being distant from his daughter, Tom Cruise has continued to fulfill his financial responsibilities toward her. Sources suggest that Cruise is going to cover the entire fee for his child’s college tuition. The total amount is approximately $65,000 per annum. This particular financial arrangement was a part of the divorce settlement between Cruise and Holmes in 2012.
According to the terms and conditions, the Mission Impossible actor is responsible for paying his daughter’s medical, dental, insurance, college fees, and all extracurricular costs. An insider at Daily Mail had quite a few positive things to say about the seasoned action star.

Purportedly, Tom Cruise is committed to these obligations and has never declined any child support expenses. Despite the estrangement, the actor has ensured that his daughter’s education needs are met. Moreover, he is not as close to Suri Cruise because the last time they were publicly photographed together was in 2013, shortly after his divorce was finalized.

Suri Cruise’s decision to attend Carnegie Mellon University is a significant transition, as she will be moving from a private upbringing in New York City to a more happening and buzzing collegiate environment. The mother-and-daughter duo reportedly moved the latter to the college dormitory around August 20th. Most importantly, the young one is excited to experience her college lifestyle and has chosen to live with a roommate.
Her chosen field of study remains private but there have been hints that she seems interested in pursuing a career in performing arts. Katie Holmes had briefly mentioned in an interview that her daughter might join the entertainment industry, similar to her parents. Suri Cruise has already contributed by providing vocals for two songs in her mother’s films, Rare and Alone Together.
Even though there’s a distance between Tom Cruise and Suri Cruise, the former’s commitment to his daughter’s education remains steadfast. However, she is now legally an adult, so the actor is no longer obliged to pay $400,000 for her annual child support.
