Appearing on the recent episode of Josh Horowitz’s Happy Sad Confused podcast, Sydney Sweeney thus addressed her humble beginnings and noted how her family supported her dreams despite the fear of failure. There was something different about the passion for acting? They saw that you felt that?” Horowitz asked.

Yeah, I just had a crazy imagination. I’d build imaginary world and characters and I’d put on little performances for my grandparents and parents. And they thought I actually wanted to be a princess. They thought, this is not real, she will grow out of it. And then this really small indie movie came to town and I found out about it. And so I put together a 5 year business plan presentation at 10 years old. Like what could happen if they let me audition for this movie because they weren’t taking me seriously. So I was like ‘I’m gonna talk to these people like adults.’

Revealing how she convinced her parents to believe in her dream and passion for acting, Sydney Sweeney noted making a presentation. Josh Horowitz noted how her plan was much like Emma Stone’s, who did the exact same thing to convince people about her acting passion. Thereafter, Sweeney opened up about how her parents began catering to her dream of becoming an actress.

Sydney Sweeney Was Bullied at School for Her Ambitions

Discussing during the podcast about how her parents drove her from Spokane to Los Angeles for her auditions and noting the 19-hour journey, Sydney Sweeney extended her gratitude towards her family. Even Josh Horowitz threw light upon her family’s sacrifice, and Sweeney noted how her parents were the first ones to believe in her, despite the massive chances of failure in Hollywood.

I’m so grateful for my parents because they truly did sacrifice so much and they believed in me before anyone else believed in me. And I owe everything to them, I would not be able to do any of this without their support of just — they would drive me after school all the way to LA, we would sleep in the car, go to an audition, and drive all the way back, so I could make school the next day.”

Thereafter, the actress was asked about her life at school and how her friends and peers reacted to her Hollywood ambition. Sydney Sweeney opened up about the hard part and revealed getting bullied at school for her acting career. Addressing how doing something different at such a young age can cause children to sideline and bully the one, Sweeney spoke about being pulled out of school for extreme conditions.

I dealt with a lot of bullying, but that came from the parents as well. Like the parents talking to the kids and not understanding like how dare they leave this town, how could they uproot their family like this? So it was really hard to deal with, and I ended up, like after a year and a half of going back and forth and trying to stay in school, back home — my mom ended up pulling me out, homeschooling because it just got really bad.”
