Denzel Washington and Sylvester Stallone are neighbors. But this doesn’t mean that they are on good terms all the time. Both labeled as legendary actors of the film industry, Washington and Stallone go way back but have never starred together.
One time ages ago, Stallone had the Equalizer star’s security on high alert with his antics. This was when Stallone was not invited to Denzel Washington’s house for a grand party where Nelson Mandela was in attendance.
Denzel Washington Did Not Invite His Neighbor Sylvester Stallone To Dine With Nelson Mandela
Denzel Washington has lived an exciting life. The star has dined with many important personalities over the years, including Nelson Mandela. Years ago when Mandela paid a visit to California, the American Gangster star threw a lavish party in honor of Mandela at his residence.
As to how such a feat came about, Washington said in an interview,
“I visited Mr. Mandela I was invited to meet him. I had breakfast with Archbishop Desmond Tutu and lunch with Nelson Mandela and actually when he came to the States…. the last time he came to California came to our house.”
So, when a personality like Mandela visits your house, you just had to make it a big event and that is exactly what Denzel Washington did. But there was one person who Washington did not invite.
“Sylvester Stalone… we live in like a gated community and he lives there, and he wasn’t invited. We had about maybe 40-50 people….. Ophra Winfrey, different people were there.”
The party was every bit grand and glorious, full of important people. But Sylvester Stallone, a community member, and a neighbor, wasn’t too happy about not getting an invite. So naturally, being the person the Rocky star is, he took the matter into his own hands.
Sylvester Stallone Had Denzel Washington’s Security At Full Alert
When not being invited to any event, most would choose to stay home instead of gatecrashing. But Sylvester Stallone is a different breed altogether. This one time when his neighbor and fellow actor Denzel Washington did not invite him to a party, Stallone decided to gatecrash, having Washington’s security on high alert.
“So they had security and helicopters flying around, people talking in their ears and stuff. And a guy came in and said – ‘You know, Sir, Mr. Stallone keeps walking back and forth in front of the house. Trying to hop over the fence.”
And being the generous person The Book of Eli star is, he invited Stallone as well.
