Remember when Sylvester Stallone and Jackie Chan were going to work together on the awesome and high-octane action film, ‘Baghdad’, which was later renamed, ‘Project X-traction’? Then, after Stallone withdrew, WWE star turned actor, John Cena took his place, and the title of the film was changed to ‘SNAFU’.
It should also be noted that the development of this film has faced many obstacles. After filming was stopped by COVID, the finished product was shelved in China due to strict movie laws and censorship. Oh, and did we mention that it is directed by Scott Waugh, a former stuntman, who now makes action movies like Act of Valor and Need for Speed?
Yes, we all pretty much forgot about it until another odd event occurred. It may be, another title change for the film.
Now that the movie has a release date coming up and is now called Hidden Strike! You got it right. Another name change for the movie was made. And we have evidence of it in the form of the lately released trailer for this film, which is seemingly awesome!
Jackie Chan and John Cena to Work Together in This Action Film
John Cena is unquestionably one of the most well-liked athletes in the nation. He became one of the greatest WWE superstars of all time, thanks to his charismatic personality and outstanding stage presence.
In addition, Cena entered Hollywood, made a number of massive films, and rose to fame there despite having a successful professional wrestling career. Now that news of the upcoming action movie starring WWE superstar and one of the biggest action stars in the world, Jackie Chan, has surfaced, fans all over the world are ecstatic.
In the first trailer and poster for Hidden Strike, we can see Fast X actor and WWE professional wrestler teaming up with one of the martial arts legends. The action hero duo movie, Hidden Strike, which was made possible by XYZ Films is promising plenty of insane stunts.
Cena once admitted in an open interview that he was overjoyed to learn of the chance to collaborate with Chan, a legend in the action genre. Back in 2020, the 46-year-old American professional wrestler, actor, and former rapper told Collider:
“It was enlightening, and it was one of the best experiences in my life; it’s fu**ing awesome… He has taught me and helped me in more ways than he will ever know in one experience… Usually, I say I have to read a project to be riveted by it.”
The Road to the Screens for Hidden Strike Was Dramatic
Sylvester Stallone, a legendary actor in Hollywood, was set to star alongside, Jackie Chan in the movie. But Stallone withdrew due to his commitment to Creed 2 filming. After he dropped out of the project, John Cena, an actor, and WWE superstar stepped in to save the day and is now a co-star in the film with Chan.
The Jackie Chan and John Cena collaboration film has had a difficult time finding a release date. It was originally titled Snafu, then went by the titles, Project X, Project X-Traction, and finally Hidden Strike. The project was first made public in 2018, just before Cena’s reputation as a movie star started to increase as a result of appearances in blockbuster films.
Some of them include The Suicide Squad, the Transformers prequel, Bumblebee, and the ninth Fast and Furious movie.
The US-China relationship was somewhat upset by a drama involving trade during the start of filming in China. Although a release date for Hidden Strike isn’t yet known, it will probably happen this year.
Also, the release of Hidden Strike‘s first trailer and poster after all these hard times hints that we have inched closer to seeing this action film that has been six years in the making.
There isn’t a release date for Hidden Strike yet, but it will surely take place soon.
