The MCU has been successful because it has used various styles and tones across its media. Marvel has successfully appealed to a wide audience by producing many films, from comedies like Ant-Man to epic space symphonies like Guardians of the Galaxy.
However, Marvel’s willingness to attempt new things with the darker and grittier tone of The Winter Soldier and now Secret Invasion is encouraging. Their willingness to try new things makes it interesting for viewers. With the Secret Invasion storyline, Marvel sets up a significant event in the Marvel Comics universe.
Now that the Skrulls have been established as Earth’s allies, Marvel has endless avenues to explore with this plot. It’s possible that the Skrulls have infiltrated Earth for a long time and that some fan-favorite figures will be Skrulls all along.
It’s also possible that the Skrulls’ ultimate goal is to conquer Earth, in which case the MCU’s protagonists will have to work together to stop them. Whatever the case, Secret Invasion looks to bring a lot of fun and excitement to the MCU.
