Pop Queen Taylor Swift has been donning over the hearts of audiences worldwide with her stunningly perfect voice and searingly honest lyrics. And now, with her current ongoing world tour, i.e. The Eras Tour, the singer seems to have crossed all barriers as she becomes one of the few thousand billionaires across the world, and that too at an incredibly young age. Yet while her success is widely commendable, she has been a victim of a lot of criticism over the years as well.

And as exceptionally brilliant as she is, Swift decided to address that criticism through her recently released song ‘Slut!’ along with the rest of the pre-recorded songs from her album 1989 in a new album titled 1989 (Taylor’s Version).

Taylor Swift’s 1989 (Taylor’s Version) was recently released, and along with it came her most anticipated song as well. As the name suggests, the song boldly reclaims the word that was often hurled at her during her span as a singer, which is also why this song is one of the most important songs of her entire career.

Since the pop queen pours her heart out in her song lyrics, several critics and trolls have taken this as an opportunity to make her the punchline of s-xist jokes. Thus the word ‘slut’ was thrown around with her name just because of a few failed relationships that she had been in.

Yet, the 33-year-old singer addressed all the criticism in ‘Slut!’, which includes the following lines:

“But if I’m all dressed up they might as well be lookin’ at us. And if they call me a slut, you know it might be worth it for once.” And: “Love thorns all over this rose. I’ll pay the price, you won’t.”

Not only this, but the physical copy of 1989 (Taylor’s Version) also holds a letter that further gives insight into her songwriting process, which includes how her songwriting has been painted as “a predatory act of a boy crazy psychopath.”

“In the years preceding this, I had become the target of slut shaming — the intensity and relentlessness of which would be criticized and called out if it happened today,” Swift wrote. “So I swore off hanging out with guys, dating, flirting, or anything that could be weaponized against me by a culture that claimed to believe in liberating women but consistently treated me with the harsh moral codes of the Victorian era.”

Furthermore, the song ‘Slut!’ itself portrays all the negative feelings and thoughts going through her mind during that particular period: something that no human being is ever worthy of going through.

While ‘Slut!’ perfectly displays her emotions on how she gets judged by the critics and trolls, this song wasn’t the only one where Taylor Swift addressed the deeply s-xist comments hurled at her. In another one of her superhit songs from 1989Shake It Off, she sang:

“I go on too many dates, but I can’t make them stay; at least that’s what people say.”

And then in Blank Space, she sings:

“Got a long list of ex-lovers, they’ll tell you I’m insane.”

Going further in her letter in the physical copy of 1989 (Taylor’s Version), Swift mentions how she wishes to silence “the voices that had begun to shame me in new ways for dating like a normal young woman.” She wrote:

“If I only hung out with my female friends, people couldn’t sensationalize or sexualize that — right? I would learn later on that people could and people would.”

Yet, despite all the criticism and abuse she has faced throughout her singing span, Taylor Swift never stepped back but instead kept on going until her hard work truly paid off and made her a billionaire at only 33 years of age.

Not only did her Eras Tour receive an average of 72,459 attendance, but it has also grossed a whopping $2.2 billion, making it the highest-grossing tour ever. That has further increased her net worth as well, which currently rests at $1.1 billion, making her one of the few thousand billionaires in the world at an incredibly young age!

But then again: the queen deserves every bit of the appreciation that she gets!
