What Happened At Taylor Swift’s Eras Tour In Brazil?
Ana Clara Benevides Machado, 23, died on November 17 before Taylor Swift’s concert in Rio de Janeiro. She got sick at the venue, received attention from first responders, and was later transported to a nearby hospital where she passed away.
After getting to know what happened, Taylor Swift took to her Instagram story and expressed her deep sorrow and sympathy for Ana Clara’s family and friends. Swift also expressed her shock at such an incident happening.
“I can’t believe I’m writing these words, but it’s with a shattered heart that I say we lost a fan earlier tonight before my show,” the singer began. “I can’t even tell you how devastated I am by this. There’s very little information I have other than the fact she was so incredibly beautiful and far too young.
I’m not going to be able to speak about this from the stage because I feel overwhelmed by grief when I even try to talk about it,” she wrote. “I want to say now I feel this loss deeply and my heart goes out to her family and friends. This is the last thing I ever thought would happen when we decided to bring this tour to Brazil.”
This shocking incident prompted Taylor Swift to postpone her second show as part of her tour in Brazil. Obviously, she held more shows afterwards but now another interesting development took place in Brazil.
Taylor Swift’s Eras Tour Became Shrouded In Controversy After The Fan’s Passing
According to People, during Taylor Swift’s Sunday show in São Paulo, the late fan’s family was seen watching from what appeared to be a VIP tent. They wore matching shirts with Benevides Machado’s face on them and had the opportunity to meet Swift after the performance, as they even posed for a photo with Taylor Swift.
The father of Ana Clara Benevides Machado, Weiny Machado, expressed his grief and concerns in an interview with the Brazilian newspaper Folha de S.Paulo. He wanted to know whether fans were prohibited from bringing water into the concert and if there was a lack of assistance provided.
”She was about to graduate in psychology next April, saving money,” Weiny said. “I have no words to express my pain. She left home to fulfill a dream and came back dead.”
I want to know if it’s true that they are prohibited from bringing water and neglected to provide assistance.”

According to NBC News, Time for Fun, the company that organized Swift’s Brazil shows and announced Benevides Machado’s death, is under investigation by the Civil Police of Rio de Janeiro’s consumer delegations department. Authorities are exploring potential negligence related to the “crime of danger to life or health” by the company. Regardless, it is simply unfortunate a young life was lost before Taylor Swift’s concert and we hope such an incident never happens again.
