With a base roster of 32 fighters, TEKKEN 8 has surpassed Mortal Kombat 1 and Street Fighter 6, as it has earned the crown of being the greatest fighting game of the current generation because of its relatively non-greedy practices. Where MK1 and SF6 had 22 and 18 characters in their base rosters, respectively, with the rest of the fighters locked behind paid DLC, the latest installment in the TEKKEN franchise ensured that it treated its fans with as many iconic faces as possible.

However, there was a void in the absence of one OG fighter who, ever since his debut in 1997’s TEKKEN 3, remained a fan-favorite character in every game that followed.

Eddy Gordo Enters the TEKKEN 8 Roster in Style

The Indomitable Flash, Eddy Gordo, has finally arrived in TEKKEN 8.

Although Eddy Gordo will make his TEKKEN 8 debut for all players on April 4, gamers who bought the Deluxe or Ultimate Edition got to select the Brazilian fighter from April 1 onwards. Bandai Namco has given the iconic character a new look, as he looks fresher than ever, but Eddy mains will be pleased to know that his signature abilities have been included and he plays similarly to his previous TEKKEN appearances.

Unleashing his Capoeira on opponents, Eddy Gordo’s kicks have always been some of the most overpowered moves in the games, making him a popular fighter among the noobs, and it doesn’t seem like the developers have done anything to nerf him.

Described as the Indomitable Flash, Eddy Gordo seeks redemption in TEKKEN 8, as he tries to take revenge against the antagonist, Kazuya Mishima. His rage art is also unique but amazingly fitting, as he says “time to make it count” and transports the opponent into an ancestral plane, where his ancestors are playing cultural instruments, before he kicks all life out of the enemy.

Gordo fans will also appreciate the inclusion of his TEKKEN 7 outfit, which comes with three other default costumes.

Gordo Has Special Interactions With Various Characters

Similar to how each fighter on the TEKKEN 8 roster has special interactions with other characters, Eddy Gordo has a set of his own, the most notable being the one with the stunning assassin Nina Williams. Eddy and Nina have a shared history with the Mishima Zaibatsu, and during their special intro, the latter tells him that “it’s game over for you,” as she proceeds to shoot him with her gun.

Eddy dodges the shot, runs towards Nina, and tries to kick her in the face but misses by an inch, prompting him to say, “Looks like you’re as merciless as ever.”

Aside from Williams, Eddy also has special interactions with Jin Kazama, Kazuya Mishima, and Hwoarang due to different reasons. Kazama apologizes to Gordo for his actions in the past; Mishima tries to ensure that Eddy is unable to get his revenge; and Hwoarang just brags about his superior kicks.
