Shockingly, Rogers confirms that the show was completed four years ago, having developed a total of 52 episodes. Rogers shared that the last episode was locked in January 2020 right before COVID. He added that he has yet to receive answers from Hasbro.

The Micronauts animated show, based on the Japanese toy line from Mego, was announced by Hasbro in 2018. However, fans got no update from the series ever since. Eric Rogers, the executive producer of Amazon’s Angry Birds: Mystery Island, served as the head writer and co-creator of the show and he has finally opened up about the animated TV show.

In response to a tweet asking, “What canceled project do you wish happened?”, Rogers wrote about Micronauts. He explained that he had produced 52 half-hour episodes for the show that never saw the light of the day. He shared that no one at Hasbro would tell him what had happened to the series. He shared:

In another tweet, he shared that Micronauts may have faced the same fate as Batgirl. Leslie Grace‘s Batgirl was a completed movie that was initially slated for a theatrical release and later changed to a Max release. However, WBD eventually decided to cancel the completed film. In a Variety report, WBD shared that a tax write-off was the most financially sound way to deal with Batgirl.

Rogers further tweeted that he wanted at least one person at Hasbro to tell him what happened with the series. He wanted them to tell him whether it was canned for a tax write-off or they lost it. Rogers shared:

Rogers retweeted one fan’s tweet, sharing the concept art that was released for Micronauts. He was sure that the show was going to exceed all expectations. He was also confident in the cast who gave voice to the characters.

What Happened to Micronauts at Hasbro?

Micronauts began development under Boulder Media, which was a subsidiary of Hasbro Studios. Hasbro’s animation division, Allspark Animation was actively involved in the project. However, due to a change in corporate leadership, Allspark was shut down in 2020. Entertainment One took over Hasbro’s production wing and began the development of its projects.

Micronauts, which according to Rogers was completed by then, was probably put on hold in favor of eOne’s shows. The more concerning matter was that Hasbro never released the project to any streaming services during the pandemic period when productions like Micronauts were in high demand.

Holding on to 52 episodes during all this time clearly indicates that Hasbro had no intention to release the series anytime soon. Rogers’ claim looks more and more plausible that Hasbro Batgirl’d Micronauts.
