Black Panther: Wakanda Forever hit the theatres in November 2022 and became an instant hit and a critically praised film. The film received positive reviews from both the fans and the critics for having the same impact after Chadwick Boseman’s tragic demise. Tenoch Huerta’s Namor stole the show, and though the MCU viewers don’t know much about this character, the comic book readers know that Namor is one of the oldest characters and he has been presented as a hero as well as an antagonist.
Since the character is famous and immensely loved by the fans in Black Panther 2, it is rumored that Namor will feature in the upcoming Avengers movie, that is, Avengers: The Kang Dynasty.
Can We See Namor in Avengers: The Kang Dynasty?
During an interview with Comicbook.com Jeff Loveness, the movie writer for Avengers 5 talked about his plans for the movie and excitedly shared that he is “excited” to write Namor. The writer possibly hinted that Tenoch Huerta’s Namor would be a part of the crossover movie. Jeff Loveness said,
“Namor, man. I’m excited to write Namor.”
It is quite possible for Namor to be in the upcoming Avengers movie. Tenoch Huerta has commented about the character as well as the mythology surrounding him, and also stated that “you can create a lot of things with Namor.” Since the actors are told not to give any hints about upcoming projects, it can be interpreted as a hint.
“I hope so! I hope so!! Because I want a bigger contract! I want more zeroes in my contract! No, I’m joking. I mean, the mythology around Namor is huge. You can be crazy with all this cultural aspect, and you can create a lot of things with Namor because they take a fantastic source of stories and mythology and religion and everything. So I hope they decide to keep going with the character, past its own story or whatever.”
In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Jeff Loveness admitted that he is unsure of what stage he is in of the script for Avenger: The Kang Dynasty. But assured that the director “certainly got a plan,” saying that they are “all very excited [about] the story.”
“It’s hard to even say. I think I’m in the jet-lag stage of a press tour, but we’re working on it. Destin [Daniel Cretton] is incredible. I’ve had conversations with Jonathan about where he wants to take the character, so it’s still very early days. We’ve got like 40 more movies to go before I get there, but we’ve certainly got a plan. We’re all very excited for the story that we’re laying down, so now it’s just on me and my ADHD and my procrastination and all that. So, hopefully, Kevin doesn’t read this. If he is, hey, Kevin. I’m doing great. The pages are just flowing, man. (Laughs.) It’ll be there next week.”
Since Avengers: The Kang Dynasty is far from release, it would be intriguing to see what Jeff Loveness and Daniel Cretton come up with for the ultimate crossover film.
How does Namor fit in Avengers 5?
With Jeff Loveness’ comment that he is excited to write about Namor for Avengers 5, there can be a probability that the anti-hero would play a major role instead of a cameo. And the audience would see the character going head to head against Kang or the Council of Kangs, indicating that the anti-hero would team up with The Avengers.
It is difficult to state whether the Talokan leader would team up with Earth’s Mightiest Heroes because in Black Panther 2 it was portrayed that the ant-hero didn’t have anything to do with the surface world; so the fans might see a possible series revolving around the Talokan leader.
Avengers: The Kang Dynasty will release in theatres on 2nd May 2025.
