Arnold Schwarzenegger, the man known for his muscular body and commendable Hollywood career over the years, was once ashamed of his body. Being 75 years of age takes its toll on one’s body and although Schwarzenegger is not as muscular as he used to be in his prime, the actor still maintains a healthy body compared to other people.

In an interview, Schwarzenegger revealed that he doesn’t feel the same way since he was ashamed of his body during old age. During his lengthy talks, the actor admitted that old age indeed sucks as he recalled his glamorous career as a professional bodybuilder and then an actor.

Arnold Schwarzenegger Feels Ashamed of His Body

Old age is something that actors have had to deal with since the inception of Hollywood. Veteran actors have often been stated reliving the good old days when they had the energy and the body of a youngster and the films were crazy. One such example of this is Mr. Universe himself as Arnold Schwarzenegger talked about his young days and the effect old age has on his body.

In multiple interviews spanning several years and mediums, The Terminator actor revealed that he felt ashamed of his body while looking in the mirror. Stating that time had taken a toll on his muscular and jacked-up body, the actor claimed that he felt ashamed that he couldn’t maintain the same level of physical fitness that he had during his glory days.

“I feel terrific about where I am in my life, when I look back at what I’ve accomplished, but I feel s***ty when I look at myself in the mirror.”

“I’m not competing, I’m not ripping off my shirt and trying to sell the body. But when I stand in front of the mirror and really look, I wonder: What the f*** happened here? Jesus Christ. What a beating!”

In a final statement to The Hollywood Reporter, Schwarzenegger talked about the various titles he held during his days and the number of gym exercises he could do.

“Old age sucks. Maybe I feel like that more than anyone else because I was Mr. Universe, Mr. Olympia and at any given time could bench-press 500 pounds or do squats with 500 pounds and lift 700, and then all of a sudden you see your body no longer in shape even though you may be in better shape than anyone else at 71,”

Despite being old age, Arnold Schwarzenegger revealed that he is addicted to the gym and that he had to adapt to a new gym routine due to his old age.

Fans praised Arnold Schwarzenegger for trying to adapt to the old-age life and taking things slowly and one at a time. The actor did not push through the pain while hitting the gym instead he adjusted his gym routine to his old age and works out at a safe pace.

“I’ve chosen to adapt to my age, make my workouts a little bit different and focused on staying lean, and avoiding injury. This is why I’ve moved away from free weights and stick to the workout machines. I’m addicted to training, and I have to start my day in the gym,” Schwarzenegger continued. “So today, even though my body won’t react the way it did 50 years ago, I can maintain as much as I can and it brings me great joy.”

Being 75 years of age, the actor has still not given up on Hollywood as he awaits the release of 5 of his upcoming projects soon. Arnold Schwarzenegger will be seen in the TV series FUBAR which is set for a release date of 25th May 2023.
